Volnek of Geshrel was a Jaffa and member of the Sodan. He was the brother of Jolan.
Biography[]
2005[]
He was badly wounded by a staff weapon blast at the hands of Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell and his symbiote was so wounded that it died. They started him on Tretonin, since Dr. Carolyn Lam didn't have any other choice. He was later interrogated but resisted any and all attempts to release the knowledge on how the Sodan might be reached. He was finally released after Mitchell returned to Earth. (SG1: "Babylon")
2006[]
After the Sodan rejected Origin, he encountered a Prior of the Ori on an unnamed planet with the Prior telling Volnek that the Sodan had committed unforgivable crimes against the Ori and that great ill would befall the Sodan. The Prior used his staff to knock Volnek unconscious with the effects of the disease later driving Volnek mad. Over a gradual process, he mutated into a creature that was effectively undead, similar to the effects of the Ancient healing device. He eventually broke the bonds intended to restrain him and slaughtered every single man, woman and child in the village except for Lord Haikon. Teal'c and Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell were eventually forced to kill Volnek, who was already too far gone by destroying his body. (SG1: "Arthur's Mantle")
