Vern Alberts is a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force stationed at Stargate Command. His post as a technician makes him responsible for the activities in the Stargate Operations room.

He assisted in the repairs on the Stargate when it overloaded and sent Captain Samantha Carter and Colonel Jack O'Neill to the Beta Gate in Antarctica. (SG1: "Solitudes")

He was in the Stargate Operations room when the Tollan Narim sent the cat Schrödinger through the Stargate. (SG1: "Pretense")
When SG-1 was wearing the Atanik armbands and defied orders to go through the Stargate, he was on duty in the Stargate Operations room. Major Samantha Carter rendered him unconscious with an injection in his neck. (SG1: "Upgrades")
During the time loop, he was in the halls of Stargate Command when Colonel Jack O'Neill rode past him on a bicycle and asked him how his wife was. (SG1: "Window of Opportunity")

Alternate realities[]
- In an alternate reality visited by Dr. Daniel Jackson in 1998, Alberts was a technician for the SGA. His position was similar to the one which he held in our reality. He was killed by the Jaffa invading Cheyenne Mountain. (SG1: "There But for the Grace of God")
