Vasi's team was a group of Ancient engineers which participated in the starship Destiny's construction, and were the last known survivors un-ascended of their race.

History[]

Vasi's team participated in the final stages of Destiny's construction, a million years ago. They were to disembark from the ship before she launched from Terra's shipyards in autopilot, when on the ship's bridge a power regulator overloaded, damaging the section. Unable to leave the ship with shuttle or Stargate, they repaired the power systems and took refuge in the stasis pods until the Destiny's crew arrived. (SGU: "Back to Destiny 1")

Unbeknownst to them, the Ancients never sent for the Expedition Team, and Vasi's team slept in stasis for a million of years, until they were the only un-ascended members of their race. Later, unknown to them, a crew arrived finally on Destiny, by accident, becoming stranded. They never found Vasi's group pods, because they could not reach that section of the ship.

That year, somehow, they awakened, ironically, when all the new crew of the ship was in hibernation, except for Eli Wallace, who arrived at the section with a space suit. When he found the Ancients, he saluted them, but was shot and knocked unconscious. Vasi's team considered the expedition intruders, and ignored what happened. They allowed Eli to awaken colonel Young to interrogate him. Suddenly, Irnas fell ill, and the other group's members did too. Young convinced Vasi to let Eli awaken the expedition's medical team. Jota escorted him, but was knocked by Lieutenant Matthew Scott, who awakened some other soldiers.

After the Ancients fell ill, the Tau'ri expedition was once again in control of the ship. They called a doctor, Gary Guzzo, from Homeworld Command, with the communication stones. He suggested making Tretonin to save them, and Vasi explained to the crew how to locate the ingredients to do it. Despite being very ill, Vasi help the crew to initiate automatic reparations of the Destiny with maintenance robots. Meanwhile, another of their group died despite Doctor Tamara Johansen's attempts to save him.

Finally, the expedition managed to make Tretonin and save some of the Ancients, at least Vasi and the blonde man. Fully recovered, and knowing finally the situation of their race, the members agreed to join Destiny's new crew, despite the fact than Doctor Nicholas Rush has some reservations about them, in grand part because there was only one other Ancient, Janus, who had been in hibernation so much time without aging.
