The Island of Dr. Moreau was a novel by H.G. Wells about a doctor who creates human-like beings from animals via vivisection that was turned into several movies.
In 2003, the clone of Colonel Jack O'Neill compared Loki to Dr. Moreau. The original Jack agreed with that assessment. (SG1: "Fragile Balance")
