Ford Flying a Jumper? Edit

Just finished watching this episode, and it dawned on me that Ford does not have the ATA gene. He was given the gene therapy, but it did not take. He relies on Carson, Sheppard, or another ATA carrier to fly the jumpers. So, is this a goof, or is there some automation for jumpers arriving/departing the Atlantis control room?
