Image for Main Page

The image on the main page is so wide that it often makes things show badly on my PCs. Since it repeats a lot, could we maybe have a thinner image? Also, is this image one from the Public Domain? -- CocoaZen 15:15, 28 Mar 2005 (EST)

Finding a PD image won't be easy, but Wikipedia has a lot of fair use images which might be more appropriate that the one here. See Wikipedia:Image:SGA-poster.jpg and Wikipedia:Image:Sg1-poster.jpg for example. The German Wikipedia disallows fair use, and has some interesting GFDL images relating to stargate. See Wikipedia:de:Bild:Spülgate a in boden.png and Wikipedia:de:Bild:Spülgate mit rampe.png. I've added the "Stargate Command" text to one of these. See Image:Sgcommand.png. I like it. It will do SGCommand

Great wiki, Stargate is awesome. Keep up the most excellent work. :)

Need protection?

Do we need to think about protecting the Stargate Wiki Main Page? I don't think so, but please: Feel free to think about it and reflect on the issue here. There hasn´t been any "bad edits" of late, so I think it's safe so far, but in time we should consider protecting the page. That is my opinion - what do y'others think? Peter R 14:33, 16 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Okey, it seems that SGCommand now has done it, without further discussion. It's OK by me. Peter R 04:41, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Possible for the future

I move this text to here, because of it's no use at the moment. Maybe in time...

Featured Articles

After seeing the current discussion on Alternate Realities, I thought we should feature some articles. So, I added a line on the main page. Because there aren't very many of us actively participating at this time, I thought we could each add one (and change your own periodically?) Later, we we are larger and have more participants, we can create something more formal, like a Feature Article program with voting. Ok? If it's not ok with you, remove the line from the main page. I won't mind. --CocoaZen 16:17, 16 Nov 2005 (UTC)

DoNotCopy

I like the note about "DoNotCopy", but do we have to have it way up? It's not that a good first impression, with a barking note like that. I'd rather have it below, as we've had it previously. Please, respond to this, SGCommand. It is you who wants it there - can we discuss it? Peter R 13:29, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)

I originally put it at the bottom of the page. I'm fine with it either way. My preference would be to have it at the bottom, and to also post it to the user page whenever someone is copying much of their text.
Speaking of which, I'd like to recommend that whenever we get information from an external site, that we add that external site as a link on the article. This would apply to freely available content too. --CocoaZen 19:42, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)
OK, then I'll return it to the previous edit. Peter R 21:35, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)
As it's been moved again, instead of getting into an edit war, can't we just discuss where to put it? I prefer it at the bottom of the page myself.--GingerM 16:48, 28 Nov 2005 (UTC)
