First of all, this isn't really about Stargate Universe, and second of all, maybe they engineered it specifically to take that long. Or maybe you're just thinking too hard. :) Byakuya Truelight 11:50, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

I'll admit I had a few reservations when I first heard it'll be a little different style then SG-1 or Atlantis. But to be honest all those were resolved when I watched the first major trailer. They are definitely keeping enough of the old feel for at least my needs. The only other thing I'm wondering about is how character centric it'll be. Obviously it'll be a lot more character-centric then SG-1 or Atlantis, but as long as they stop well short of say, Defying Gravity (which is pretty much a soap opera with a vague sci-fi background, I'm not even sure why I attempted to watch the piolet) I think we'll be okay there too. --The Cucumber (talk) (Contribs) 23:06, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Alternate Timeline?

will this series be like an "alternate timeline" or what?

No. Well, I don't think so, but I'm pretty sure it's not.—Anubis 10545 20:20, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

A Younger Audience? Really?

Am I the only one who got an immediate Teen Gate vibe off of this article?

"Universe will attempt to appeal to a broader audience, drawing new viewers into the Stargate world. The show will be "a little more character-based, a little less rooted in a sci-fi mythology..."

"Part of the new focus is a deliberate attempt to bring in younger viewers to watch Stargate Universe. "This is an opportunity to reinvent this franchise and make it relevant to a new generation," SCI FI president Dave Howe told The Hollywood Reporter. "We really don't want to be more of the same. It's going to build clearly off the existing franchise but with a cast that gives it a younger vibe.""

The more and more I hear about this series, the less I like the sound of it. At the moment, it sounds to me like the cast of Dawson's Creek is stranded on the U.S.S. Voyager. —Ka'lel 06:36, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

you took the words right out of my mouth i'm 22 and even i dont want a younger cast.

 • I've thought this was like Teen Gate since I saw the casting information. It seems like nearly everyone is just a younger ripoff of a Atlantis or SG-1 character. --Golden Monkey 13:17, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

does nyone know where i can watch the preview for it? i ehard that the first airing of the atlantis finale had it at the end. or was it the preview for the sga movie? if anyone knows can u tell me where to watch the preview of them—SupremeCommander 22:37, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Here is a link to the Stargate Universe promo on Youtube. It's not much though, only about 12 seconds long.—Anubis 10545 03:04, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it cirtainly isn't much, allthough the Stargate looks a little different Sman789 03:21, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
Huh, I hadn't noticed that. The chevrons almost look like circles... although it could easily just be all in the animation and video quality.—Anubis 10545 04:17, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

aww, thats it? ah well. yea the stargate IS different. different color and different chevrons. its possible that this was the second variation of the stargate with milky way and ida being first and pegasus being 3rd—SupremeCommander 04:20, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Although if the chevrons are circles... well, they wouldn't really be chevrons then. They would have to say "Circle one encoded". Although I don't really think they would do that... I don't know..—Anubis 10545 04:26, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Primates fist appeared in the fossil record on earth a little over 50000000 million years ago around the same time the Ancients arrived on earth presumably this is because of Ancients engineering life to evolve in to humans why then did it take 50000000 million years for humans to fully evolve to there present form on earth but it took less than 3000000 years for the same to take place on planets in the Pegasus Galaxy and why do no over planets that have been seeded with human life have any primate species besides humans

Castings

After the recent castings, they are clearly going for a younger cast. Not as young as I was expecting, kind of around the "Aiden Ford" age. While he was interesting as a main character, I would never have accepted him to be a team leader at his age. However, I am more optimistic about the series after reading Brad Wright's and Paul Mullie's Q&As on Joseph Mallozzi's blog, and I recommend them to everyone, as they're good reads. —Ka'lel 04:32, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

I did like Aiden, but yea, he wasn't really a "leader" figure. More of a sidekick. Although if you get any younger than that, well... you don't want to send 15 year olds across the universe. :) I'm sure they'll find a way to make it work... —Anubis 10545 04:34, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Plot... thing

Via a thread on Gateworld, I came across this: [1]. It gave some description of "Air", but obviously the facts are in question and it's subject to change. But, (in case no one's seen this before) I thought I'd bring it up.—Anubis 10545 04:56, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

That's pretty significant if it ends up being at least somewhat accurate... --JemHadar359 17:29, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Sneak Peak Promo

A promo for SGU will air during the series finale of Battlestar Galactica tomorrow night on the "SyFy (eugh)" channel. Because I don't get that channel up here in Canada, I'll most likely miss it, but it'll probably be uploaded to youtube. Keep an eye out. Cheers.—Ka'lel 15:38, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

I have added the trailer to the article. There's a quick glance at the new Stargate design/prop, and some worried stares from a few cast members including Robert Carlyle and Lou Diamond Phillips. On a side note for any BSG fans, how frakking awesome was that finale, eh? Cheers. —Ka'lel 04:06, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
For me, the finale is only 30 minutes in. Although I was able to see the promo for SGU, mistakenly labeled as the promo for "Caprica" moments before it aired.—Anubis 10545 04:40, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Exclusive Robert Carlyle Interview

IGN has an "exclusive" (for now at least) interview with Robert Carlyle up on their site. It gives quite a bit more insight into his character and from the intro graphic, it looks like we can expect more of these videos in the future. Here's the link.

Art Style

Does anyone else think that judging by the pictures of the gate and the ship, SGU seems a bit steampunky? Fa6ade 15:55, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Absolutely, lots of pipes and gauges, very steampunk. They also seem to be taking queues from Battlestar (new series) as well. —Ka'lel 03:46, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
I agree. Although I kind of like the traditional "high-tech" Ancient look. ... took me a while to find out what "steampunk" meant :).—Anubis 10545 03:48, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

How will the chevrons work?

As I understand there will be a gate on the ship in stargate universe, but does anyone know how the chevron symbols will work? As I see a problem in the symbols being important to the galaxy that the gate is currently located in, and if its true that this gate move's between galaxies surely theres an issue with its symbols and its own 'origin' symbol. I know sci-fi isnt suppose to be flawless, but this seems important to the basis of the sci-fi of the stargate. I mean I was pretty confused when stargates could be placed on spacecraft and used in different locations, but I got on board with the idea that because the gates werent designed for that DHD had been adjusted, whereas this is gonna be a toughy, but knowing

If you watched the early episodes of SG1, Cap. Sam Carter explains that by inputting the "map" of the planets and their corresponding chevron addresses, you can re-adjust the 7th chevron (or in the SGU case, the 9th?) to whereever you are in the galaxy, only the final chevron has to be changed in order to gate out (or in). So long as they have a computer with them, it should be no problem--Jenkins08 (talk) (Contribs) 16:12, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
No, 9th dials to Destiny. Dial from Pegasus with 9 chevrons? Welcome to Destiny. Ida galaxy? Welcome to Destiny. I can't really say how it works (afaik), don't have the time. Sorry =( Supakillaii (talk) (Contribs) 18:02, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Stargate Universe already bad?

Stargate Universe has so much potential but the writers are already destroying it Icarus Base then an attack from the Goa'uld or Lucian Alliance or someone using Ha'taks in my opinion its off to a bad start personally I think that if Atlantis had gone for 10 seasons the way it should have before Scifi oh Im so sorry "SyFy yeah right" now cancelled it for no reason and wont give up the rights so another company can pick up SGA and putit back on. Anyways the wraith should have finally found earth and all of the remaining wraith would get together and leave Pegasus and head to earth earth with Prometheus(which is a 304 design) Daedalus, Odyssey, Apollo, George Hammond, English 304, French 304, Korolev(wasn't destroyed cause no Ori ill explain after) and the Sun Zu with 25x Ha'taks from the Free Jaffa eventually Atlantis also joins the battle along with an Ancient Warship providing cover and launching drones No ZPM powered hive but Atlantis does make an emergency landing. Afterwards the Stargate is revealed to the public. After all the uproar Rodney is going through the database and discovers about Destiny and its purpose its logical to think that Destiny should be the Atlantis database because of its importance then an Expedition like the one to Atlantis is put forth only after on Destiny do they realize that there stuck there and cant get back to earth at least until the experiment is finished in like 10 years or something it fits so much better and makes more sense I know its kinda repeat with the beginning of Atlantis but if you think about it makes more sense in real life it would be done that way. Also about the no Ori think about if the Ancients seeded stargates in other galaxies and the Ori didnt know about it I know the Ascended Ancients were protecting Milky Way and Pegasus but what about the rest of the Universe dont you think they would know the Ancients were trying to hide something from them if the tried to shield the whole Universe from them. I actually like the Ori think they bring alot of potential to the show but they should be a future bad guys like in a hundred years in the future but Season 7 the Goa'uld were defeated with the Milky Way Replicators however the Milky Way Replicators are the Same in Pegasus Fifth Managed to escape into Hyperspace and headed to Pegasus after learning Atlantis was there from Ancient Knowledge(No RepliCarter) and rebuilt Season 8 was picking up the pieces the Founding of the Free Jaffa Nation Season 9 was the Lucian Alliance in my opinion they were underused so Also Cam and General Landry and Carolyn Lam are in the show cause Janet still dies General Hammond had a heart attack Jack is retired Sam is working at Area 51 and Daniel is planning to go to Atlantis same as before but just as before Vala comes crashing into Daniels life with Earth going to war and defeating the Lucian Alliance towards the end of season 10 thats how Stargtate SG-1 and Atlantis should've gone paving the way for Stargate Universe.

what is this guy ranting about?!

offtopic: youtube movie in the middle of the page

Anyone notice the stupid dancing chickens youtube movie? Whatever was meant to be there (maybe some other universe trailer?) had the link miss-typed. Please fix this soon because it gives the page a 'weird' look.

EDIT: It's an advertisment , can't be helped :(

That's probably because you're an IP, something Wikia as a whole does is advertise if you're unregistered. If you want to get rid of them, the easiest step is to create an account. -- Matthew R Dunn (talk) (Contribs) 19:14, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
