General West[]

What about General West, who was in command in the movie? He was referred to in the SG-1 Pilot.

General West was never in command of Stargate Command, he simply led its predecessor Project Giza. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 02:10, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

I beleive that the glass in stargate command is a top secret kind. When an MP5 went off and about five to ten bullets impacted the glass at close range merley bounced off. they must have developed a stronger type of glass. Most bullet resisistant glass make a shatter mark or some type of evidence of being hit with bullets.

I've always wondered how they repair all the glass in Atlantis... the way it's all different shape and colors. I mean, they probably don't have a glass making factory in the city...—Anubis 10545 01:32, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
That's a good question, perhaps the Ancients had spares stored in a storage facility somewhere in the city? =P Cmantito 04:36, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Dont you think its a little odd how the SGC has neither beaming technology, not shield technology, not beam weapons for defence, nor a forcefield iris after all the almost successfil attempts to smash through the metal one? It seems like they spend all these billions on spaceships but dont even fit the centre of it all with teleporters or defences. Sman789 18:26, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Well that stuff was all built into the Gate room at Atlantis, and it was easy to build into the ships, cause they were built from the ground up, but the SGC already existed and they'd have to retrofit all those features in. A shield that far underground? Seems a bit ridiculous, but the gate forcefield thing would be good. That said, the only gate forcefield is in Atlantis and the Tau'ri didn't make that. As for beaming from underground, I don't see that working out too well, myself ;) Also, I signed your post for you. :P Cmantito 04:36, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
If perhaps there are a few upgrades mentioned or shown in each movie, at a slow pace, it would be reasonable to introduce new technology to the the SGC, as it would make sense that they would continue to upgrade the place, but you have to think about continuity. We don't see much of the SGC anymore, and if it suddenly appeared completely different in the next movie, that's called jumping the shark and it would upset a lot of fans. Also, the SGC doesn't exist in the real world anymore; the sets have been dismantled.

Base altered for future use[]

Unfortunately due to the production of Stargate Universe, the Stargate Command set was altered significantly to function as the secret Icarus Base where the Stargate Universe storyline begins. --Ccheng21 06:54, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

As is noted on the Icarus Base page. Cheers. —Ka'lel 07:06, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

More floors[]

It is possible there are more floors than 28?

I don't know if there are any, but I've really been wanting to see an overlook of the entire base and how everything fits together, so if anyone have a picture or something perhapps?

there is some images of the plan of level 27 and 28 but not much of other levels. there is however a sort of map seen in Lockdown - Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 11:03, August 8, 2010 (UTC)

SGC Uniforms - Missing Patches[]

How come when SGC personnel are on base they are wearing all of their paches (mission patch, name patch, SGC patch, etc) on theirs uniforms, but when they go on a mission I have noticed on a couple of times that their paches are missing. Have they been taken off because of a "Real World" reason, like if the got caught by the enemy they wouldn't know who they were or where they where from, that kind of thing ? I have noticed the same thing with the Atlantis teams as well. 14:09, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

So, that's a "don't Know" then ? 12:41, February 18, 2012 (UTC)

maybe it a Covert thing? 22:03, December 14, 2012 (UTC)

I believe some more covert units in the military have a policy of often removing identifying patches from their uniforms when on missions in case of capture173.88.140.21 16:09, February 1, 2014 (UTC)

what the heck

Type of government: Military force

last time i checked the Stargate was run by the United States Government that form of government is  Constitution-based federal republic not a Military type of government 22:06, December 14, 2012 (UTC)

I know this is a bit old, but it's due to the template... it's not a good template to use, really. 05:35, December 12, 2014 (UTC)
