The article says that the one-way travel of matter is a technological limitation, not a property of the wormhole. The show seems to indicate otherwise. Carter even comments on wormhole directionality in an academic setting in “Prodigy”. A fundamental property of wormholes makes more sense than gates only being able to deconstruct or reconstruct, especially since that’s contradicted by the shows several times.
