Has anyone got a DVD of this episode? We need a better picture. This one is awful and way too small. Sman789 19:21, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

I can get one. There are several Stargate screenshot websites out there. But then again, the image is only supposed to be of the actual emitter, it might be difficult to get one much larger without it showing things other than the emitter.—Anubis 10545 19:07, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
There's one from The DVD Collection magazines; if someone can find a better shot from the episodes themselves then they can feel free. :) —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 19:15, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Its probably better if you do get one that shows more than just the emmiter. It'd give a better impression of it's size. Sman789 19:21, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

How does air get in?

I dont pretend to be an expert, but in many science fiction things shields have some form of selective permeability. In Dune, it permitted Air and slow moving objects, in Star Wars the gungan shield permits slow moving objects(droids walking), Goa'uld shields permit air and slow moving(low kinetic energy objects), but Goa'uld shields can be modified to be more selective, where slow objects wont pass through, and even replicators can walk on the shields. These are like the Goa'uld shields, only more extreme in their standard mode, the mode hypothetically being controlled by the user, in its base mode, only air passes through, but with a skilled mind, perhaps an ancients, or someone like Adria, the Orisi, can control the settings, but a human(even with the ATA gene), cannot.

I don't think it's a case of not having the right sort of mind... I think it's more to do with actually knowing what you want it to do. The streangth of the ATA gene in you does effect how easily it reads your mind but it still works a bit for everyone, other Ancient technology like the control chair shows this. Problem with McKay, I bet, is that he panicked. If he just calmly closed his eyes and thaught about it disengaging it probably would, and I bet there's a ton of other stuff it can do too if the user is aware of it. My favourite idea being that, seeing as the shield can obviously change it's shape as you walk, it might be able to make a big spike/javelin sort of shape and be used as a sort of short range sharp melee weapon, like the newer model terminators from the Terminator series. Also, maybe it could expand to shield others. As for changing what can go through it, we know that it can be changed to allow food through, because Lucious did it, so other stuff doesn't seem like too much of a streatch as long as you know how to explain to the emitter what you want. If it's food its easy enough because you can see and focus on it in your head, it but if it's some sort of specific gas it would be harder. Sman789 (talk) (Contribs) 19:32, June 29, 2010 (UTC)
