Where was it ever called a laser?

  • To be honest, I think it should be renamed as Ori beam weapon; just my thought on it. -- Darth Batrus 19:27, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Yes, I agree with that. --Asgard Forever
  • I do too. Apart from being a beam, the weapon doesn't behave remotely like a laser would be expected to; and while you can expect a degree of creative license on a sci-fi show, I just have a hard time believing that a big beam of light is really one of the most powerful weapons in the universe. --Nomad 02:59, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
    • I agree also...The DVD Collection magazines (as seen here calls it an "energy beam", and so I'm going to move the page to "Ori energy beam weapon" if that's okay with all of you? —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 14:11, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, that would be a good idea. --Asgard Forever 18:09, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

It is actually a cannon. As you might have noticed in Counterstrike it fires a long pulse, while the Asgard Plasma Beam weapons are truly beam weapons as seen in The Kindred part 1. The fact that the Ori beam is not a beam is also seen in Camelot when the Ori ships destroy the Korolev. You can see that the ships stop firing and the weapon continues to the target and destroy it. The Ori beam should be renamed Ori main cannon or something like that. EternalAlteran

Why is this a cannon and the Asgard Beams not? Watch the first time they fired the Asgard beams and you can see it carrying on into the Ori shields even as the ship stops firing, there just much faster than an Ori Beam.

The Beam Discharge[]

Personally, I think the beam could be the same energy as what Lantian Drones realease when they detonate.
