Aren't the asgard human descendants. On the episode with the thousands of years old one that they were studying he looked almost identical to humans, too close to be an entirely different race.

Primates fist appeared in the fossil record on earth a little over 50000000 million years ago around the same time the Ancients arrived on earth presumably this is because of Ancients engineering life to evolve in to humans why then did it take 50000000 million years for humans to fully evolve to there present form on earth but it took less than 3000000 years for the same to take place on planets in the Pegasus Galaxy and why do no over planets that have been seeded with human life have any primate species besides humans
Milky Way
It says "The Ancients later seeded the Milky Way and Pegasus galaxies (probably more) with Humans, as *both* galaxies seemed to be devoid of sentient life." (emphasis mine.) But I don't ever remember them saying anywhere in the series that the Milky Way Galaxy did not have any sentient life forms prior to the arrival of the Ancients. 170.215.90.116 07:49, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Humans throughout the universe?
Hey, everytime they introduce a new race, I always think back to the first episode, where Sam says something along the lines of "The chances of meeting an alien race looking remotely like humans is astronomical".
Yet everywhere we go, there we are. Of course they've explained the Milky way and pegasus humans, but what about the Sekkari and the Reol.
They're humany, yet not. As well as the Asgard, or at least what they used to look like.

Alterans and terrestrial evolution
I don't quite understand how humans are descendants of the alterans, as all life on Earth is from common descent. Can someone explain that to me?80.121.105.134 19:47, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
- I was about to answer that, but then I got to thinking. Ancients lived on Earth millions of years ago, but then all of them left for the Pegasus galaxy in Atlantis. When they returned to Earth through the Stargate 10,000 years ago, they found the planet to be populated with a primitive human civilization. Overtime, some interbred (I guess you could say) and spread their genes on to the native population.
- It has been stated, on the show... such as by Janus in "Before I Sleep", that humans are the 2nd evolution of the Ancient form. But then... how would that happen if the Ancients were in another galaxy when humanity evolved? Although I guess that, in the episode "Reckoning", Anubis said that the Ancients used the Dakara Superweapon to recreate all life in the galaxy, possibly meaning that they shaped the humans on Earth in their image. Around the time they did that is when they left for Pegasus, which was several million years ago. But then... that would mean they really didn't evolve from the Ancient form.
