Since I'd rather avoid making drastic changes without telling why, and without giving editors the ability to reply, allow me telling you the problems with this page.
- First and foremost, the "Cheops" term is pure fanon (fan canon).
While, for a change, it's refreshing to see it applied to ships which are the best candidates for it, it's non existent in SG canon.
- Secondly, this type of ship is not a warship by any stretch.
It has been described as having weapons in Moebius, but this was within the context of launching a full infantry assault against it. Its ability to deploy deah gliders is solely enabled if its parts are unfolded. Generally, this is done after the starship lands on a pyramid.
- Thirdly, a Ha'tak is a pyramid ship, and in Moebius, that ship was described as an Ha'tak. I concur, this doesn't make it easier to sort out, because basically any pyramid ship can be a Ha'tak, and any ship with some kind of pyramid feature can be a pyramid ship... unless, of course, it's been described as something else, but even then, we can't know if, for example, an Al'kesh isn't a subclass of Ha'taks, since they bear a pyramid after all. Of course, considering Al'keshes, the pyramid feature is so discret that the pyramid ship wouldn't seem appropriate.
Digression aside, this page is in error. I'd point out wikipedia's starship page, which if not complete enough, does display a better comprehension of what Goa'uld ships are in Stargate, notably by acknowledging the multiple Ha'tak variants. I think it is most important, there, not to think in a human-centric way, and try to enforce our idea of naval classification upon the Goa'uld ships to the extent it's been done in StarWars' expanded universe, for example.
Unless someone wants to formulate an objection, I suggest we find a way to rework this page as a link from a whole general ha'tak page, which will point to each variants which has existed thus far (which means the actual Ha'tak page should be made more specific for a given variant, and be renamed accordingly, so we can build a global and accurate Ha'tak page, as seen on wikipedia). —Unsigned comment by Mister Oragahn (talk • contribs).
- This type of ship is named the Cheops class warship in Stargate SG-1: The DVD Collection 7, in the glossary at the back of the magazine. As this is an officially licensed MGM product, and MGM control everything about the Stargate license (whether or not fans want to only accept what the writers say), this is considered a canon source. While some of the other information on the page may need to be changed (I'll need to check it when I'm on my own home PC), the name and class of the ship is not up for discussion. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 14:52, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
the center part of a hat'ak?[]
Now this may be compleatly wrong, but is it possible that cheops vessels are actually the center pyramid of a hat'ak vessel? I mean you have to admit they look identical, and it would make sense: A hat'ak enters orbit of a planet to be invaded/colonised, and it seperates from it's center pyramid and sends it down to the surface. When all is done the center part returns to the hat'ak and pyramids are build for future landings.
The cheops class has a four-sided pyramid, Ha'tak pyramids have only 3 sides. Jauh0 (talk) (Contribs) 14:01, May 11, 2011 (UTC)
