Reproducing the Process on Earth Ships[]
As I recall, the IOA wanted to use a star's power to enable Destiny back to Earth. They also said that the data they acquire could be used to re-engineer the process back on Earth ships. That implies that Asgard Shields are also capable of flying into a star. Otherwise, they could never get an Earth Ship to fly into a star to collect power from the Sun and dial Destiny. Fusion[]
Blockade made me realize that Destiny doesn't use solar power but elements. If it only needed light, then it could simply stand outside and collect the power. Why go inside the blue giant star otherwise? No, they went inside and collect hydrogen, helium, and anything else with less protons than iron, an element that no star can sucessfully fuse to gain more energy than it started with.
- It is posible for the solar colectors to use the "heat" and electric/magnetic charges of the star`s plasma, for the recharge of the capacitors inside Destiny; and then left behind the more "cold and neutral plasma" inside the star, rather than leave with it. This explain why the ship need to be "inmerse" and "remain inside" the star both for the normal recharge AND for the "dialing-to-Earth".
- If the power system of Destiny is based on nuclear fusion reaction, then it can not work in an "unlimited overdrive mode", because (even with unlimited "food" from the star), the increase of kinetic-particle and foton-radiation energy produced by a fusion process needs more TIME or SPACE (one or another) for the transformation in "raw electricity", needed for the huge "hungry" of the stargate abnormal operation.
- The seeder ship has "big reserves of energy", (even more than the necesary for dialing to Earth), it`s size and internal volume are smaller, and only have 1/3 of the total mass of Destiny. [If the "storage of hidrogen" was the real problem, then it make no sense the use of an smaller ship to resolve it].
- If the "big reserves of energy" in the seeder ship are electrical in nature (electric capacitors) , then "transfer" all of it directly to the stargate is not an issue. [They not even need the (only-for-Rush in that time) "full access" MasterCode^TM for the use of the "core energy production systems" of the Seeder Ship or Destiny].
- Related to "recolection of elements" from stars: If the star is not a "first generation" class (born with only the primordial hidrogen and helium from the big bang), then it is posible to found inside traces of ANY elements of the periodic table, no mater how heavy they are... The iron can not be "fused" for energy production in the core of any star; but when a masive star (because it`s own gravity and lack of internal energy), implodes itself and goes supernova, the extreme conditions of pressure, radiation and "heat" can create heavy elements beyond iron. The same process put these new heavy elements in a masive shockwave that later create new stars... even the masive and relative "young" tipes like the Wolf-Rayet class blue giants.
- The shuttles probably use that source of power (fusion reactor of hidrogen/helium and isotopes), because a simple "battery" energy system will become deplete quickly, and can not be recharged outside the Destiny. In the episode "Eden" they left one shuttle in the planet, as a shelter and "heat generator" for the cold winter. Later on "Visitation" we know that a total failure in the energy system can not be fixed by the people on the planet. Argamis (talk) (Contribs) 07:59, May 29, 2011 (UTC)
Rename[]
Properly, the process is called a "Ram-Jet Scoop". Should we consider renaming the page?
