DHD in a pocket

i really like the device so far especially the DHD function it lists and refreshes gate addresses. Im wondering if the device has a control crystal built in or is it built into the older stargates Adrianke ^{(talk) (Contribs)} 19:39, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

We don't know how it works, but it's unlikely to use crystal technology as the Ancients don't seem to have it in that era. It's more likely that the dialing program is saved on some sort of electrical circuit chip. Seeing as the Blue Aliens couldn't use the gates, I would guess that the dialing program is inside the remotes, not the gates, but I could be wrong. Function:

In Lost it was also seen that the remote control had a camera on it that was used to take a picture of the blue alien gate map. Shouldn't that be added to the list of functions--99.148.26.247 19:52, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

He was actually using his iPhone camera to take a picture of the blue alien star map. Oh and I could totally see myself loading tons of apps on that remote control. I bet they would work in every galaxy in terms of just dialing an address. Question in weather or not they could make a list of adresses or not - if the gates had that function then why not implement it into DHDs? That said, the correlative update system would imply some sort of communication between gates, so it is possible that they do know each others' location, which would allow the remote to search addresses in MW and Pegasus too :D Sman789 ^{(talk) (Contribs)} 18:59, May 27, 2010 (UTC)

I'd think they'd work elsewhere to, if they work on the early system of gates. possibly with limited range, due to whatever means they use to communicate, it may not be a galaxy wide communication device. I bet dhds dont get it as a security feature, so not just anyone can walk up to the gate and know every gate in the galaxy, they thought only ancients would have the remotes, and so it was fairly secure. DHDs, are less secure, so any programming and data stored in them are kept limited and unable to be accessed. Question might be, why didnt atlantis have these devices in the city somewhere? Or did atlantis itself automatically update things on its computer instead?
