The Alterans Article should be merged with this article as they both contain information on the same race. -- Awar 05:12, 29 October 2007 (UTC).

The Alteran were Ori and Ancients before Ancients left. Lanteans are the Ancients that went to Pegasus Galaxy. By your logic, we should also merge Ori and Lantean articles. Supakillaii 20:10, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

...Doesn't this run the risk of being incredibly confusing for people? -- SFH 20:31, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

  • I'm working on negating the confusion. :) - Sikon 03:17, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Oppose merge

I STRONGLY oppose the merge of Ancients into this article. Although I didn't participate in the discussion on IRC (sine I don't know how it works) that decided that this article should now be the main article for the Ancients, I don't understand how people come to accept this. This name, was as far as I know, mentioned ONCE in the series, while the name Ancients appears nearly every time when there are talks about this race. OK, it is the name of their race in their native language but if we follow this suit we have to call the Stargate the Astria Portas. I don't want to sound rude but it would be best to merge the article back into the Ancient article. What do the other people think about this?

P.S.: Can someone tell me how and with which arguments it was decided on IRC that this article becomes the official Ancient article? Diabound00 18:29, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

  • The only reason we didn't move Stargate to Astria Porta is because we've heard the Ancients refer to them as Stargates as well. If we hadn't heard this in the show, I'd be perfectly okay with moving it to Astria Porta. The reason it was moved, however, is because we try to use the native names wherever possible. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 19:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
    • As far as I know no Ancient called himself or his race the Anqueetas. This name was used only in one untranslated text and although this Wikia is mostly in-universe we should still go by the more common name (and because I have to say that I think that Anqueetas sounds silly). Also shouldn't we merge Tau'ri into humans then? Diabound00 19:42, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
      • The justification for keeping Tau'ri where they are is because that's the only name for them we know — since they lack a name for themselves, the Goa'uld exonym has to do. Human refers to the overall species, while Tau'ri are specifically Humans from Earth. - Sikon 03:06, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
  • Additionally, we are an English language wiki, so we might want to reconsider this. -- SFH 20:51, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Primates fist appeared in the fossil record on earth a little over 50000000 million years ago around the same time the Ancients arrived on earth presumably this is because of Ancients engineering life to evolve in to humans why then did it take 50000000 million years for humans to fully evolve to there present form on earth but it took less than 3000000 years for the same to take place on planets in the Pegasus Galaxy and why do no over planets that have been seeded with human life have any primate species besides humans

There is no explenation for that, we just have to take it as given.

I think your missing the point of being an obsessive SFI fan some what

Lol, I'm not like one of those trekkies that has to explain everything they see on the screen, I actually dont watch Stargate that much, I just like editing Wikis :D Sman789 19:20, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

yet you feel justified telling others what does and does not mater in other words Leave into a real fans to write replays as this clearly doesn't mater to you

4 galaxies?

"the first evolution of humanity in four galaxies" I count Pegasus, their home galaxy and the milky way. What galaxy am I missing? T1mmetie (talk) (Contribs) 15:45, December 7, 2009 (UTC)

do they call themselves Terrans?

I was thinking, that maybe when they resided in the Milky Way Galaxy they called themselves Terrans possibly. Seeing as Earth or Terra as they call it was the first planet that they settled and they had really no other term for themselves other than "dissident empiricist faction of Alteran society". They did call themselves Lanteans in Pegasus because they first settled on Lantea, so maybe their is a trend there. At any rate, the Ancients don't seem very "Ancient" any more, with so much of there more modern technology in such regular use.--99.141.182.124 19:21, March 14, 2010 (UTC)
