Point of Origin question.[]

Earth's point of origin, as we all know, represents a pyramid with the sun over it. However, if the Goa'uld came to power and Ra made a power base on Earth long after the Ancients built the gate network, then how come Earth's point of origin is a pyramid?

Could this be because Ra may have taken a Stargate with him to Earth, and the point of origin of said gate may have rather represented a mountain with the sun over it? And the same thing can be said for the Abydos point of origin, even though it does not resemble a pyramid quite as much as Earth's point of origin.

This may not have anything to do with the Stargate canon itself, for all I know. Right now I assume that Earth's point of origin was so symbolic and important in the original movie that it had to be carried over into the series.

Somebody please clarify for me.
