The Ta-tanen were the Jaffa warriors of the Goa'uld Ptah, and were sometimes referred to as 'stone warriors'. He never dealt with them directly, instead sending any commands through his First Prime Niptahkau. The Ta-tannen Jaffa were highly skilled at attacking Goa'uld spacecraft such as the Ha'taks, as it had been Ptah who designed the ships and so he knew their every weak point. It was because of this fact that the Ta-tannen Jaffa were rarely attacked; other Goa'uld were too afraid of losing their entire fleets in the attacks.
They were not known for their speed or great thinking, but they were known for their endurance in battle. It was said that they were like a stone against the rain when they faced combat, and that they would be the only Jaffa left standing in such circumstances. As such, they possessed a fearsome reputation among the other Jaffa. Luckily for their enemies, the Ta-tanen's numbers were small and were limited to the guard that protected their master.
