Syntheroot

Syntheroot is a type of root that was artificially engineered by an advanced civilization. It was found on a world in the Orion constellation by the Tonai. If someone takes a bite of the root while imagining a food or delicacy, the flavor is immediately reproduced in their mouth.

Syntheroot is incredibly challenging to cultivate and all known attempts to reproduce it in large quantities have fallen short, with those that are close to edible having a dull and bitter taste.

The root looks like a dull grey parsnip with a coarse exterior.
