The Strayka was a race of sentient plants from the planet Glaudyk. (SG1: "Vala Mal Doran 4")
Overview[]
The Strayka was able to control the minds of others. This mind control could be fooled with a vaccine that would allow the user to retain some semblance of free thought while it gave the Strayka the illusion that it controlled the mind. (SG1: "Vala Mal Doran 5")
The Strayka was said to hold a black power in its heart that held the potential to kill gods and man. The Strayka was capable of intense manipulation and was solely focused on its own survival. (SG1: "Vala Mal Doran 3", "Vala Mal Doran 4")
History[]
The last of its kind had been kept locked in a shrine on the planet Penetera. Vala Mal Doran was hired to retrieve the Strayka and return it to Glaudyk into the possession of a group of monks. Vala accomplished the mission and returned the Strayka. (SG1: "Vala Mal Doran 3")
The Strayka eventually grew and took over the monastery and manipulated the monks, who had originally believed it had the power of great evil, into worshiping it as a god. (SG1: "Vala Mal Doran 3")
The Strayka choose Vala Mal Doran to be its protector and had her request to deliver it to an unoccupied world classified as H-778 where it could continue its natural evolution without interference. However, Vala had the vaccine to fool the Strayka and SG-1 sent the Strayka into a Sun. (SG1: "Vala Mal Doran 4", "Vala Mal Doran 5")
