"I am your death. That is all you need to know."

"Steve" was the name Major John Sheppard gave to a Wraith captured by his team.

He was captured during a trap set by Major John Sheppard and his team using a Wraith relay device on an unnamed planet. When Sheppard asked the Wraith if he had a name and jokingly suggested 'Steve' as an option, the Wraith simply replied that all the expedition needed to know was that he would be their death, prompting Sheppard to comment that he preferred Steve. However, the Atlantis expedition had nothing to offer Steve in return for his information, Sheppard noting that they couldn't meet his "dietary requirements". (SGA: "Suspicion")

After meeting the Hoffans, who were developing a Wraith immunity drug to prevent being fed off by the Wraith, Major John Sheppard convinced Dr. Elizabeth Weir to use Steve in the experiment; Elizabeth had doubts about the ethics of such an action, but Sheppard pointed out that the Wraith couldn't be counted under the Geneva Convention as they would have eaten the other attendees if they had been present. In exchange for informing the expedition that every Hive ship in the galaxy had activated, Steve was 'permitted' to feed off Merell, a terminally ill Hoffan, but the immunity prevented him feeding properly. However, the drug had an unexpected side-effect as it entered Steve's bloodstream and caused his major organs to shut down, killing him. (SGA: "Poisoning the Well")
