Stargate SG-1: The Alliance, often abbreviated as SG:TA or SG-1:TA, is a cancelled action-shooter game that was developed by Perception and originally scheduled to be published by JoWooD. Development on the game was cancelled in August 2005 and since then has been showcased online by various people who have obtained unfinished versions of the game.[1] The game has been stated to have taken place during Season 8 of Stargate SG-1, right before the episode Threads.[2]
Plot[]
During the time of the Ancients, the Haaken were aided with technological advancements from them. However, the Haaken corrupted these gifts and used them to embark on a reign of terror across known space. This saw them ravage the races of that era, which included the Asgard, Goa'uld, Nox, Furlings, and many others. However, the Ancients were indifferent to the Haaken and refused to give up their technology. This would be changed when they saw how freely the Haaken used the technology given to them and thus moved them in opposing this threat. During this time, what remained of the Asgard, Goa'uld and Nox worked together to face the final strike of the Haaken. At this point, the Ancients created an Artifact that was responsible for imprisoning them, vanishing them from the galaxy.
This event became a point of contention and divide amongst the Ancients which was the reason they instituted a policy of non-interference. In the aftermath, the Haaken remained trapped whilst the likes of the Goa'uld rose to dominance in the galaxy. Their imprisonment remained for many years until the return of Anubis who utilized the Artifact to free the Haaken once more. However, his new allies were unpredictable, and Anubis sought the Artifact components to not only bind the Haaken to his service but also corrupt the technology to imprison the Ancients as well. The Haaken were used in this alliance against the Tau'ri whilst Anubis sought this Artifact.
Gameplay[]
In the game, players were able to select their characters and would have to fulfil the roles of the character in-question for different objectives during various missions and levels as seen in Stargate SG-1. Different adversaries and allies were to be featured in the game as well, including that of the Goa'uld, Replicators, Reetou, Tok'ra and Asgard.[2] The game was set to be a first-person shooter with the option of a third person perspective.

Cancellation[]
On August 5, 2005, JoWooD terminated their agreement with Perception stating that the games current form wasn't up to their quality requirements nor the fans expectations. They had lost confidence that Perception could finish the game on time and in sufficient quality.[3]
