The Stargate Command (SGC) is headquarters for the SG Teams. It is located deep within Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado, U.S.A. Earth's primary stargate is housed there. The SGC is also the home for the medical and research support teams. It has several features to protect Earth in case the "bad guys" get in:
- iris
- self-destruct
- lock-down
The complex has resources to let the SGC run. Although smaller than many military bases, it has a cafeteria, extensive medical facilities, quarters, conference rooms, lock-up cells as well as the Gate room and overlooking observatory.
Mission
Explore, assess and establish diplomatic ties with friendly extraterrestrial intelligence. Acquire, advance, integrate, and use technology to develop, test, acquire, and sustain technology. Plan, conduct, control, coordinate, organize, train, equip and maintain combat-ready forces for rapid and galactic deployment.

Base Levels
Level 2
Level 2 is the location of a major ventilation shaft for the base, shaft 24.
Level 11
Level 11 is the location of an interior security checkpoint and sign-in area for entering the deeper levels of the SGC. To allow for a greater level of security, the elevator from level 1 ends here, and a new elevator must be taken to go any further.
Level 16
- Level 16 contains a number of holding cells in room 22. (SG1: "In the Line of Duty")
- Although it is stated in dialogue that Carter's cell is on level 16, a computer screen that the Ashrak views to find Jolinar states she's on 'floor 12'.
Level 28
- Level 28 is one of the most important levels in the SGC, housing the Stargate and being one of the most fortified levels.
- There is a corridor A-2 and C-9 on this level with a blast door. (SG1: "Within the Serpent's Grasp")
Alternate realities
- The SGC is called the SGA in the alternate reality that Daniel Jackson visited. (SG1: "There But For the Grace of God")
- The SGC is called the SGA in the alternate reality that a Samantha Carter and Charles Kawalsky came from. (SG1: "Point of View")
