The events in this story takes place during Season 1 of Stargate: Atlantis, between episodes "Rising" and "Suspicion".
Story[]
Dr. Rodney McKay starts to explain the Stargate and its function, in notes for a book called, "My Brilliant Life in Atlantis". As he makes more notes, he, Atlantis Reconnaissance 1, and some backup, go through the stargate and visit the planet Karra. They see the Karran people are meeting the Wraith and then witness the ritual Wraithfall, where Darts cull the Karran's Honored Ones and the others cheer.
Major John Sheppard wants to intervene, but Dr. McKay tries to suggest they find out more first. Instead, Sheppard charges ahead and tells the Wraith to get away from the humans, only for the natives to attack Sheppard and his men. Due to so many people swarming them, Sheppard tells his people not to fire because they might hit them. The ritual continues and another is culled, as Sheppard yells.
