Stargate Atlantis is a TV spin-off from Stargate SG-1.
Background
Atlantis is the Lost City of the Ancients. In the series Stargate SG-1, our heros discovered how to get to Atlantis, but the power requirements to get there made it a one-time, one-way trip.
It required the SGC to utilize a near-full ZPM (Zero Point Module), which O'Neill had been using to power an advanced weapons system, to power the Stargate to get to Atlantis, as it is located in another galaxy, The Pegasus Galaxy.
