A space suit is a full-body garment designed to protect the wearer from the harsh conditions in space. The Tau'ri most regularly make use of them, and the Stargate Program makes use of them on occasion when required to visit worlds without atmosphere. Earth ships also keep a supply on board.
History[]
In 1998, SG-1 all wore space suits to find the source of strange energy readings on P5C-353 which turned out to be an orb containing sentient microscopic organisms that took over the SGC. (SG1: "Message in a Bottle")

In 2000, Teal'c wore a space suit to place a BF-8 explosive on the Biliskner's deceleration drive in order to cause the ship to burn up on re-entry of Earth's atmosphere, so SG-1 can destroy the Replicators infesting it. (SG1: "Nemesis")
In 2002, Teal'c and Colonel Jack O'Neill both wore space suits to place a nuclear weapon on an asteroid heading towards Earth. (SG1: "Fail Safe")
In 2005, Dr. Meredith Rodney McKay wore a space suit to fix the Ancient satellite in order for it to become operational to destroy three Hive Ships from attacking Atlantis. (SGA: "The Siege, Part 1")
Teal'c, Vala Mal Doran, Daniel Jackson and Cameron Mitchell wore space suits to beam down to an uninhabitable "bubble" caused by a Prior on Kallana with a Mark IX warhead, to talk the Prior out of his plans, but with no success. (SG1: "Beachhead")
In 2006, Samantha Carter wore a space suit to replace a crystal on the Ori Supergate with an Asgard one, so they could dial out before the Ori could dial in. However, the plan did not work, and she was left stranded in space and forced helplessly to watch the Ori fleet destroy the allied fleet. She was eventually rescued by Mitchell's careful piloting of the Odyssey. (SG1: "Flesh and Blood")
In 2007, John Sheppard and Radek Zelenka used space suits to repair some control crystals in an unprotected part of Atlantis, whilst drifting helplessly in space. (SGA: "Adrift")
In 2008, Sheppard used a space suit to protect himself from Midway's venting of atmosphere. (SGA: "Midway")
The Atlantis Reconnaissance 1 used space suits to escape the alternate Daedalus, after their original way out was blocked by a hole in the hull, caused by a thermal grenade from an Unknown Alien. (SGA: "The Daedalus Variations")
