Doctor Simpson was a civilian scientist stationed with the initial Atlantis expedition into the Pegasus Galaxy.

She offered her knowledge and expertise to discover a means by which her team could dislodge a Puddle Jumper from an active Stargate. Simpson countered Dr. Peter Kavanagh's fears that the damaged Puddle Jumper would set off like a bomb upon returning to the Gate Room, saying the likelihood of such an event was extremely remote.
