The Shim'roa is a Jaffa ritual performed after marriage rites. It is implied it is somewhat like a honeymoon. In 2004, Rya'c took his new wife Kar'yn to a place where his father took his mother. Traditionally on the first night of Shim'roa, the Rite of Ornoc is performed with a sharp knife. (SG1: "Sacrifices")
