Seth (also called Setesh or Set) was the brother of Osiris and a rebel Goa'uld who lived secretly on Earth for thousands of years before he was discovered by SG-1. He was a fugitive from both the System Lords, as he had attempted to kill Ra, and the Tok'ra.
After Seth was made a fugitive, he became the source of many Jaffa jokes.
He created several cults throughout his time on Earth, impersonating the god Typhon in ancient Greece and leading a suicide cult in England during the eighteenth century. In the late twentieth century, he had a small group of followers and lived just north of Seattle.
SG-1 discovered him there, and in a Hand Device battle, he was slain by Captain Samantha Carter.
Mistake in the show
He is aware of the existence of the Tok'ra, as they have been trying to hunt him down, yet he was trapped on Earth for 5,000 years after the stargate was buried, yet the Tok'ra are only 2,000 years old.
