Q/A

do you know when and if Stargate's worlds (the videogame) is going to be released? that's all i've found : http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?setview=features&gameid=242&loadfeature=1155&bhcp=1 or if there's already any another videogame related to stargate? thanks jacoboss

Wraith-Goa'uld hybrid

So, any of you think its possible to put a Goa'uld in a wraith and do you think the creators will ever do it if it is? hmmm.... I think they probably will, would be pretty cool....

-Response: Yeah......... it will be cool....... but there is a massive size difference between goa'uld and wraith.... moreover, I thought Goa'uld were annihilated, unless Tok'ra fancy sharing one with the wraith, how will it look..? a serpent with wraith head..(yuck ㄱ-;;;)

-Response: A. Yes, I agree that it would be cool and interesting though the wraith healing ability combined with that of a Goa'uld would be a scary thought. Though the wraith would actually probably outlive the Goa'uld because the wraith don't die unlike the goa'uld. B. (This is in response to the other response.) Size doesn't matter. We're not combining them at the genetic level we're just having the wraith be host to a Goa'uld which would work.--Wraith runner (talk) (Contribs) 19:35, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

Naming conventions

To be honest, I've never really been comfortable with the whole "full name" idea. Maybe Jonathan J. O'Neill is accurate, but for me, Jack O'Neill is enough. That's how he introduces himself, that's what his friends call him, that's his name. And on Meredith Rodney McKay, he calls himself Rodney McKay. Also, he may be an ass, but even fictional people deserve to have their dignity. Another thing I've haven't been comfortable with is the separation of "Ancient" and "Lantean" into separate articles. There doesn't seem to be much of a societal difference. It's okay that we consider Ancient separate from Alteran because the Alterans also include the Ori, which are a separate society and culture. The RPG names I'm a little more sympathetic on, as they were considered canon at one point and time, and the creators haven't declared them non-canon. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think we need to be too technical here. -- SFH 23:11, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

I dream of Stargate...! seriously

Wow, I had probably the most strangest Stargate dream EVER! The first one was a US Air Force Recruiting commercial involving the SGC, and it showed Gen. Hammond, the original SG1 team, and various other SGC facility staff mentioning how great their job is and why you should join the Air Force. It had a website to see if you have what it takes to be in the SGC portion of it, like a little personality test of sorts. One scene I saw was with Gen. Hammond giving why he likes working, and behind him was a slideshow of some offworld planet, and it had the year of 2000 on it, can't remember the actual date though. My second dream involved the original SG1 crew on a planet when Daniel got beamed up by what I thought was the Asgard well it wasn't because the scene switched over to where Daniel was met by Jesus, yes Jesus, and he was a Goauld as well. I will write more about this dream when I have more time because it is late here. I wrote this so I can see what ppl think about it.

what we think?! that is crazy! jesus a goa'uld , hahah that's funny i would litteraly laugh in the face of that goa'uld...he would become the most powerful goa'uld ever!! what about Bhudda? huh?? but i do like the idea of the stargate recruiting ppl that would be pretty cool but i don't see it as a commercial or going on website, i look at it more like an academy where you go and they form talented ppl (kinda like the school in star trek)...

Lost City / and new ship

Do you think the Lost City two-parter might be re-cut and more CG added (Namely the antarctica battle) into more of a stand-alone movie? - Like the Children of the Gods DVD soon to be released.

-

Also, with the sun tzu being a chinese ship, won't it be good if the next daedalus class ship is an anglo-french operated ship...I wonder what they'd call it...

Size of a Hive

We know Hives are huge, much larger than a 304: The size of the Daedalus is "Length: 225 meters Width: 95 meters" according to the Daedalus article. The image 'Hive304.jpg‎' on the Hive Ship article shows the size of a Hive Ship in relation to the Daedalus. From that image it can be deduced the size of a Hive Ship is approximately 2,600m x 1,200. The Hive Ship article doesn't quote the ship size, but the Wraith Cruiser does have a size quoted which is very close to that deduced size of a Hive. I was always under the impression Cruisers were much smaller than Hives - closer to that of a 304. Is this image misleading? Perhaps there is another source for ship sizes?

Yes, they are much smaller than the Hives, about the size of a 304. The "size" of the cruiser comes from those retarded dvd collection magazines that Jaymach loves so much. The magazine also said that cruisers can carry 20 Hives and are equipped with energy shields. Neither of them are true, so I don't know why such information is included here. 20 yr old MSgt.

Can someone please stop SGU from looking stupid by having a 20yr old as a MSgt? A Master Sergeant would most likely be in his forties. A 30yr old would be ridiculous, but at least not as plain stupid as having a 20yr old with that rank. Does the show not have any military experts or advisors? I am all about suspension of disbelief. I can imagine a world with Ancients and Stargates, but a world with a 20yr old MSgt. is too inconsitent with itself to be taken seriously from a military standpoint - amjor part of the show. Please stop the insanity.

98.22.94.54 00:55, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Sean Mahaffey

Sorry, but that's what the producers say, so we keep it. Plus, the series have partnerships and collaboration with the military for the entire run (using submarines for Small Victories, and subs and F-15 for Continuum). Are youy a military expert? -- Matthew R Dunn 13:00, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Sean Mahaffey, you are correct in your statement. Master Sergeant Ronald Greer, in actuality would be much older than he appears. I know of many Master Sergeants who retire at that rank or First Sergeants, which is also an E-8. That is 20 or more years in the service. It has baffeled me how such a young Marine would be so high in the enlisted ranks. If he were meritoriously promoted each time he was able to be promoted, he still would not have enough time in the service to be that rank. A more realistic rank for him would be that of a Sergeant or Staff Sergeant. As a Staff Sergeant he would still perform all of the duties he currently does.
To Matthew R Dunn, Sean's assessment is within reason. One doesn't have to be a military expert to realize that a 20 year old Master Sergeant is preposterous. It would be like having a 21 year old Colonel. I have heard of Hollywood not depicting the military exactly the way it is out of not wanting to impersonate military personnel. Impersonating military personnel is a crime. Having served in the military, the little details are important to me when watching a fictional reality. Portraying real branches of our military accurately shows that the producers care about the show and their fans. I could talk all day about the tactics, strategy, uniforms, weapons, lingo, vehicles, and other random aspects of the military that movies and even our beloved Stargate series simply get wrong. 71.81.34.26 20:38, October 20, 2010 (UTC)Andrew Gill, former Corporal, USMC
Cpl. Gill, you're a bit off the mark with the "impersonating military personnel is a crime" bit. Stage and filmed production performers are fully allowed to portray military members in complete or proper uniforms as long as their "portrayal does not malign or discredit the military", see 10 USC § 772 (f). After its first several seasons (and much improved production) the show received the official sanction and support of the USAF. In fact, two serving Chiefs of Staff, Generals Ryan and Jumper, portrayed themselves in a couple of cameos. The AF's (and the Navy's) continued support is likewise evident in the Continuum movie. True, Greer's portrayed rank can be a bone of contention among fans. But then again, he's not an "airman" is he? ;D If you thought that was annoying to you, consider how it was for us to have Riley as a "Sergeant" when no such AF rank exists today. If they wanted to stick with the same rank insignia, they should have properly cast him as a Senior Airman. If they wanted an NCO for the role, Wardrobe should have grabbed some old Staff Sergeant insignia used in SG-1. As it went down, it's like they continued the mistake of the very first SG-1 episode, that of having a young three-striper as a Sergeant in 1997, when the last promotions to that rank was in 1991.Ryan Fruto (talk) (Contribs) 03:06, March 10, 2012 (UTC)

Not Clever Enough

Anybody here good at maths?

Just for fun i thought i'd try and work out the binary system used for extrapolation... Obviously its made up however, somebody once told me you can make numbers work with anything.

Basically i'm just trying to work out an outline as to why P3X-989 is called that, weather it corrisponds to gate glyphs, is it just a number assigned after calculations...??

just wondered if anybody had thought about this before?

G

I have, but my left brain is probably in stasis and unable to do the required maths...i think it may be related to where to planet is in the solar systen or galaxy.

SG Universe

With a new series opened upon the whole Universe I hope at long last we learn more about the Nox and Furlings.

Since little about them was learned from SG-1 episodes, Universe could reveal they went out into other areas of intergalactic space or originated from elsewhere (After all the Asgard were hanging out in the Ida galaxy, the Ancients in Pegasus, and the Ori who knows where; so just how did the alliance with Nox, Furlings, and Ancients occur in the Milkyway?) or continued their alliance after the Alterans ascended. It would be cool and ironic if a faction of the Asuran replaced the Alterans.

A interesting possibility would be splinter groups of the Nox and Furlings waring with each other or unascended Ancients across other galaxies.

So many possibilities await in the Universe.

Did I miss something?

So, I watched all 10 seasons of SG-1. I did not watch any of Atlantis, however, I watch episodes on TV every once in a while. I now watch SGU, and I'm missing something. Where was the ninth Chevron, the Icarus project and the Hammond in SG-1? Or were they in SG-1 at all? I know exactly what's going on in SGU but I had a feeling I was missing something because of the HUGE part of the story I'm missing. Can anybody help me out with this?? -- 70.64.115.212 06:15, October 20, 2009 (UTC)General Satan

Icarus Base was not mentioned before the series, the Hammond was mentioned in the Atlantis finale, and as for the ninth chevron address, that was discussed in a deleted scene in The Shrine, but the Stargate always had nine chevrons. -- Matthew R Dunn (talk) (Contribs) 15:01, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

You really are missing a lot if you have not watched Atlantis and went straight from SG-1 to Universe. But don't bother Watching Infinity..its all Crap!

Do the goa'uld use stairs??

Ok, gang, I know it's never been addressed on the show, but how do the goa'uld move from one level to another on a mother ship? Seen them use the rings to get OFF the ship, but...do the goa'uld use stairs...and escalator...stand in uncomfortable silence in an elevator? What's the deal?

They use rings to get from other places inside the ship too. Can't really cite a specific episode, but it is possible as Jonas did it in Descent. Although you'd think that they'd also include those moving sidewalk things like they have in airports... seeing how massive their ships are. :) —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 18:25, January 18, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah too bad they didn't/don't have the transporter thingy they have on atlantis there would be no need for the moving sidewalks things they have in airports :P

Sha're nude image

Would it be appropriate to upload the image from the original "Children of the Gods," if it is properly tagged and whatnot, in order to better illustrate the controversy? As the only real nude scene in Stargate, it may be important enough to warrant a place on the Children of the Gods page.--99.61.230.22 10:39, January 19, 2010 (UTC) (logged out to avoid any controversy myself)

Censor it and put in the text underneath that is was censored. You should be fine then. I don't understand why they showed that scene as it was though. I mean, surely if they wanted to have nudity in the show then it would be equally appropriate for Hathor and the Emancipation. Sman789 (talk) (Contribs) 11:34, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

Odyssey secret mission

does any one else think that the Odyssey secret mission could be to catch up with Destiny?

cause the Odyssey isn't present in the battle against the supper hive cause its on a secret mission and in the STU 1.5 trailer you see a bc304 over a planet?

any other theory leave a comment or something

"Air" takes place after "Enemy at the Gate"... likely. The 304 in the SGU 1.5 trailer was probably the Hammond... it looked similar to the scene in "Air"... although the planet looked like it had yellow spots on it. They would have also probably talked about the use of Odyssey in SGU. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 04:09, March 18, 2010 (UTC)
the secret mission was probably intended to tie in with the atlantis film. it's a shame that it's probably been cancelled. as for the supper hive, i wanted dessert to go with it ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 06:28, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

ori warship/supergate width

why do we still have the widths up. i can buy the supergate diameter at least but the ori ship width is crap, not only because its wider than the supergate but because its out of proportion to the length. —ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 19:42, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

I know... we've discussed this before... it's just like the issue with the size of a wraith cruiser compared to a 304... it's from those DVD magazines that we apparently hold so dear. In this case, I would say that what's shown on the show supersedes the Magazine (as an ori ship is clearly smaller than the gate)... in which case both measurements would need to be thrown out. Although I'm sure Jaymach has his reasons... maybe. At least, what we should do is make note of the size discrepancies in the references section on each article... —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 21:25, March 21, 2010 (UTC)
this is ridiculous and almost amounts to vandalism from the magazine. why do we need to take the measurements from this "canon" source when it amazingly directly contradicts higher-level canon. i appreciate what the magazine collection writers' intentions but this is obviously a glaring mistake. it's like renaming "goa'uld" to "goo'uld" because of a typo made in a novel. (just an example) ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 08:54, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
I have to agree, it's the magazines that are vandalizing the canon. What about if the magazine says that 304s have strip clubs and casinos, are we going to take that as the truth too? Jauh0 (talk) (Contribs) 10:32, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

You have on one side Atlantis with three ZPMs and carrying 6 extra squadrons of F-302s, 6 304s (Daedalus, Apollo, Sun Tzu, George Hammond) and two new ones, the HMS Spartan and the USS Javelin and ten Traveler generational ships.

Against-

25 Hives and 75 cruisers ( 3 for each hive because what happened to the Hive Ships having three cuisers for escort, we haven't seen that since the Siege part 3)

Citing an episode, possible to show episode number

I'll explain it better here. While on the Star Trek wiki (http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/) if you are reading about a species or whatever and the article sites a specific episode, if you hover over the name of the episode in an alt text or popup it says: Episode name (TOS 2x05) which is very handy.

Here's an example: http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Deep_Space_Station_K-7

Look for: "The Trouble with Tribbles" in the first paragraph and hover your cursor over it, it will show up with: "The Trouble with Tribbles (TOS 2x13)" which indicates what series, season and episode. I assume this pulls from the database as when you go to edit the page it was not put in manually.

I'd love to have this as an option here as e have 3 Stargate Series and many seasons in between them all.Mainer82 (talk) (Contribs) 15:39, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

Ion Drive

I forgot the name of the episode, but in that episode, Carter manages to get a Ion Drive from Hebbridians/Serakkins. What the hell did they do with it?

"Space Race", and it was no doubt either rendered obsolete (Hebridan interstellar technology sucks by comparison), or integrated into their 302s for better fighter propulsion. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 21:19, September 26, 2010 (UTC)
  • They acquired the Ion Drive, which seemed to be both the FTL system for the hebridan, as well as their sublight engine, but there is no evidence that the SGC/Area 51/Earth Sceientists succesfully reverse engineered the engine. However, we dont know what style of sublight engine the Tau'ri do in fact use, they could be Earth style ion drives(we do actually possess them), or far superior ion drives from the Hebridan/Serrakin, or traditional chemical propellant... we dont really find out.74.129.66.59 19:38, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
  • No, the F-302s do not have Hebridan-inspired Ion Drives. They're shown to be equipped solely with human chemical-propellant engines configured in three different ways. The sublight engines for the cruisers are likewise not Hebrian. The X-303 had propulsion technology reverse-engineered from the crashed Asgard ship Beliskner. The Tau'ri owe more to the Asgard in these technological fronts than they do to other alien races.Ryan Fruto (talk) (Contribs) 03:18, March 10, 2012 (UTC)

Thought on SG1 weaponry

While the P90 is the standard weaponry for the SG program, was there ever consideration for integrating the Zat guns into them? While the Zat guns are ineffective against certain Gao'uld and Ori body armour, it is superior against unarmoured/underarmoured enemies where you only need to subdue or delay the enemy rather than kill them, as well as completely disentigrate a body and small object. Combining that with the armour-piercing capabilities of the P90 would make a near-perfect weapon for SG teams participating in hostile off-world activities. I figured they would have figured this out by Season 5 or 6, I don't remember it ever being mentioned though. Kamnet (talk) (Contribs) 00:43, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

  • I hate to break it to you but the Goa'uld are thousands of years more advanced then we are, Earths only energy weapons are lasers, like those we acually possess and the [X-699] which doesnt appear to be ready for use in actual combat, its big and bulky, and hasnt proved to be anything aside from a 1st generation prototype. Zats are way more advanced. Tau'ri merely possess technologies directly given by the asgard and it is unclear how they reproduce them, they could be creating them using asgard teleporters and the information on the Core.74.129.66.59 19:44, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Broken links to Kathleen Ritter's Lexicon

Hello out there - I have found an issue that needs expertise with a particular template:

I found it while looking up her Lexicon entry for Heimdall (of the Asgard). The Stargate Wiki link pointed me to

http://rdanderson.com/stargate/lexicon/entries/heimdall.htm

but the current URL is http://rdanderson.com/stargate/entries/heimdall.htm

The link on the Stargate Wiki page just mentions "heimdall.htm", so I guess there's a template hiding there that fills in the rest of the path. Can somebody with the necessary knowledge please update the template? Thanks! PKT (talk) (Contribs) 00:19, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Ra's Jaffa don't have a symbiote pouch

In the first Movie Stargate (1994) Ra's guards do not show any signs of a symbiote pouch. You can see their belly's clearly, but no cross-shaped hole. I can not find any reference to this on this Wikia? It is rather interesting :)

Perhaps im overlooking something, tried to search it but no result.

Note: Ra's first prima does cover his belly with some clothing so it is possible he got a symbiote pouch.

Relatively new to the franchise- my wife and I

My parents were always trekkies. I used to watch it occasionally with them and enjoyed it.. but going back to watch the series seemed a bit daunting…

So my wife and I started watching Stargate Universe season 1 about 6 or 7 months ago. Just to get my sci-fi space travel fix…I had seen the original movie back when it came out years ago so I at least knew what the Stargate did.. but she was going in blind. We both enjoyed it. So being that we had Netflix I figured I’d show her the movie to give her some background. Well we didn’t stop there.. we started to stream SG-1 season one. Now of course going back to 97 or 98 everything about it seemed a bit cheesy but we made a commitment to stick with it.

So here we are.. Months later and half way through season 8. This season started in 2004.. and I noticed that Atlantis also started in 2004.

Now here’s my issue.. We started watching an episode last night which spoke about the Atlantis team not communicating back since they made their trip! Uh oh!! I think we’ve past the point of the pilot episode! We have the pilot movie in que and on its way to our house… but I want to know in what order should start to watch them simultaneously? Basically I want to know the continuity of the episodes/movies.

Also, I figure we’ll have to start to watch the Atlantis series as soon as we get it and watch both series at the same time.. but when we’re done with SG1.. which of the DVD movies do we watch first.. Ark of Truth or Continuum?

Here is a link to a forum post here that will answer all of your questions. RDAisGod (talk) (Contribs) 18:58, September 15, 2011 (UTC)

Submachinegun used in SG-1 episode "Endgame"

In "Endgame" one of the Trust-members, Haskins, is seen shooting a submachinegun against the SG-1 team. I'm wondering what manner of gun it was, if anyone reckognized it.

Looking at the episode, I want to say it's an illegaly modified Berreta 93R designed to fire in full auto, rather than three round bursts. The folding foregrip is visible in one shot, and not in another. RDAisGod (talk) (Contribs) 18:28, September 15, 2011 (UTC)
