Millions of years ago, the first race of humans called Alterans lived in a distant galaxy. They had different interests. A group of them were interested in science and the other group was interested in spiritual and religious beliefs. They split up into two races: The ancients and the Ori. The ancients still called themselves as Alterans while the Ori changed their names.
