Sources (episodes)

I suggest that when we add any information, we also add what episode the info comes from. For example:

  1. "Daniel Carter was considered to be the best known military in the whole of SGC. (SG1: "Never Could Tell")
  2. "The Wraith all died a terrible death. (ATL: "Will It Ever Happen?")

(I've linked "SG1" and "ATL" to the main articles on the series)

What do y'all say? As it is now, there is so much info that really aren't related to the episodes, in detailing which episodes that the info is gathered from. Peter R 05:21, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I agree. When you know the episode title, this is a good idea. Other cross links to tie content together are also good. For instance, episodes can be a cross link. --CocoaZen 18:24, 8 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Please, everyone! Remember to add the episode sources on every article you write. Please! Peter R 08:16, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Episode names when there is double-episodes

(Discussion originated at User talk:Pjotr'k)

You don't have to take my suggestions, but did you see the suggestion that multi-part episodes might just go to the base name rather than X, part1 and X, part2?

Yes, I saw it, but where? I can't remember. My thoughts are that that of course is a possible way. However, if the double-episode was broadcasted as seperate episodes in a row (although they are called the same with the number extension), I have thought that we should count it as two episodes here. Any thoughts about that? Should I consider anything else, then please let me know. We must decide now, I think, before we've made a lot of episode articles. Peter R 10:23, 26 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Policy:Categorizing races

When there is a lot about one single race (i.e. Ancients) I have put those articles under a seperate Category (i.e. Category:Ancients) and then I put that category as a sub-category to Category:Races. In this way you can more easily follow the path and get a quick overview. Please feel free to comment here. Peter R 04:45, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Article #1000

The article number 1 000 is now fixed. See more at the article Merlin! Peter R 09:26, 21 Sep 2005 (EDT)

Help is needed!

I really need some help in this wiki! There are a few that's really doing a great job when you're here, but we're not moving forward in a big rush... I would like that someone more put in some extra time in fixing a whole episode, with everything in it (articles for the actors, roles, photos, planets mentioned, ships & technology mentioned, other things mentioned), so that the wiki can be greatly advanced. As for now, some episodes are done like that, but most are not. If someone else do that, you should really see a difference within weeks! BTW: Who started this wiki, shouldn't (s)he be here sometimes working? I really can't remember who it was who started it.

I don't want to be strict and firm, but I'm afraid that, although I'm loving doing this, I will not feel as great about working with this wiki soon... Peter R 04:59, 26 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I created this wiki. SGCommand
Okey, that is one answer. Do you have anything else to respond to my other thoughts. Or anyone else, for that matter... Peter R 15:12, 26 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Copyrights?

I'm starting to see more and more articles that are copies from the Gateworld's Omnipedia (Martouf, Za'tarc, Beliskner, to name a few). It's my understanding that this wiki should be unique and not a copy from something else. Besides Gateworld has a very clear guideline: This material may not be reprinted without written consent from GateWorld.

What are we going to do with those articles? Rewrite, delete, or just blank them?

If we have consent to copy the omnipedia then forget that I've said anything, but I can hardly imagine that. --Patricia 16:24, 30 Oct 2005 (UTC)

I have seen quite a few of those as well. My meaning is that we have to rewrite those. We must fill with more material that is known. Material can we get elsewhere as well, for example from the episodes transcripts that are to be found on some places on the Internet. I suggest that you make a template called Template:rewrite with a category tied to that template called "Category:Rewrite"or something like that, and then we can mark every page we find with {{rewrite}}. With that possibility, we can make it to a project to find and rewrite every page that is in fact stolen. What do you think? Peter R 21:03, 30 Oct 2005 (UTC)
I think it's a good idea. This way we don't have to throw away articles, but we can try to rewrite/improve them. When I get back from work I'll create the template and category. I'll put the category in the SGCommand:Projects page. After that I'll start searching this wiki for stolen articles. --Patricia 09:35, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Great! Thanks for your efforts. You and the others that has come here during the last week are really improving things around here. I'm quite busy at the swedish Memory Alpha, because I'm the only one working there, so I do appreciate everything you are doing! Peter R 14:24, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC) (who's been around here a few months)
Well I'm done. I named the template and the category a little different. I made a Template:Copyright infringement and a Category:Copyright infringement. I've put the category on the projects page. I would appreciate it if you would read them through for me, and correct any mistakes that I've made.
I know what it's like to work on MA all by yourself. I've done that for a long time on the Dutch version. Thank god Eelco came along and lend me a hand. But know we're turning our attention to Stargate Command. Believe me, even Star Trek gets boring after a while. Good luck with the Swedish version though. I noticed that you already have 782 articles there. Good work! --Patricia 19:19, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC)

It looks quite good, I must say. A note: You say on the page Category:Copyright infringement that "The next step is to place the article in this category by adding: [[Category:Copyright infringement]]" That would not be necessary, since you already noted that category within the template {{Copyright infringement}}. I therefore removed that sentence. Otherwise, very good looking, I must say! Thanks for the MA boost! I need that! Peter R 21:25, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Templates

I've done a character template "how-to guide" (Characters) for Template:Infobox_Character but then I found an earlier template at Template:Character so decided to put some of the information from the earlier onto the later one. If everyone's happy with it I'll go ahead and use the later one for the articles. (see Walter Harriman for an example of the new table).--GingerM 15:27, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)
