I've done a character template "how-to guide" (Characters) for Template:Infobox_Character but then I found an earlier template at Template:Character so decided to put some of the information from the earlier onto the later one. If everyone's happy with it I'll go ahead and use the later one for the articles. (see Walter Harriman for an example of the new table).--GingerM 15:27, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Sources (episodes)

I suggest that when we add any information, we also add what episode the info comes from. For example:

  1. "Daniel Carter was considered to be the best known military in the whole of SGC. (SG1: "Never Could Tell")
  2. "The Wraith all died a terrible death. (ATL: "Will It Ever Happen?")

(I've linked "SG1" and "ATL" to the main articles on the series)

What do y'all say? As it is now, there is so much info that really aren't related to the episodes, in detailing which episodes that the info is gathered from. Peter R 05:21, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I agree. When you know the episode title, this is a good idea. Other cross links to tie content together are also good. For instance, episodes can be a cross link. --CocoaZen 18:24, 8 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Please, everyone! Remember to add the episode sources on every article you write. Please! Peter R 08:16, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Episode names when there is double-episodes

(Discussion originated at User talk:Pjotr'k)

You don't have to take my suggestions, but did you see the suggestion that multi-part episodes might just go to the base name rather than X, part1 and X, part2?

Yes, I saw it, but where? I can't remember. My thoughts are that that of course is a possible way. However, if the double-episode was broadcasted as seperate episodes in a row (although they are called the same with the number extension), I have thought that we should count it as two episodes here. Any thoughts about that? Should I consider anything else, then please let me know. We must decide now, I think, before we've made a lot of episode articles. Peter R 10:23, 26 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Policy:Categorizing races

When there is a lot about one single race (i.e. Ancients) I have put those articles under a seperate Category (i.e. Category:Ancients) and then I put that category as a sub-category to Category:Races. In this way you can more easily follow the path and get a quick overview. Please feel free to comment here. Peter R 04:45, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Article #1000

The article number 1 000 is now fixed. See more at the article Merlin! Peter R 09:26, 21 Sep 2005 (EDT)

Help is needed!

I really need some help in this wiki! There are a few that's really doing a great job when you're here, but we're not moving forward in a big rush... I would like that someone more put in some extra time in fixing a whole episode, with everything in it (articles for the actors, roles, photos, planets mentioned, ships & technology mentioned, other things mentioned), so that the wiki can be greatly advanced. As for now, some episodes are done like that, but most are not. If someone else do that, you should really see a difference within weeks! BTW: Who started this wiki, shouldn't (s)he be here sometimes working? I really can't remember who it was who started it.

I don't want to be strict and firm, but I'm afraid that, although I'm loving doing this, I will not feel as great about working with this wiki soon... Peter R 04:59, 26 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I created this wiki. SGCommand
Okey, that is one answer. Do you have anything else to respond to my other thoughts. Or anyone else, for that matter... Peter R 15:12, 26 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Templates

I've done a character template "how-to guide" (Characters) for Template:Infobox_Character but then I found an earlier template at Template:Character so decided to put some of the information from the earlier onto the later one. If everyone's happy with it I'll go ahead and use the later one for the articles. (see Walter Harriman for an example of the new table).--GingerM 15:27, 1 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Changed Humans --> Tau´ri

I've just made almost a hundred minor changes. I've changed the humans of Earth, to be categorized under Category:Tau'ri instead of under Category:Humans. Tau'ri are then in turn categorized under Humans, just like any other human population from other planets. In time, I will move other persons from other planets to a unique category, but I will take it one step in a time... Peter R 16:04, 5 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Admin suggestion

Patricia has requested that Knightmare will be removed from th list of admins. This must be dealt with, and the community must make a decision. I therefore propose that we make a vote. This is normally the way on Wikipedia too deal with this issue, and I feel that it's the best way to go. It's better to be open about an issue, than to try to "think it away". This is the first time, however, so I want your opinions on this matter. BTW: I moved the copyright discussion to a special page called SGCommand:Community Portal/Copyrights. Peter R 09:54, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Any comments on this? Peter R 14:17, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

How about this I Knightmare resign from being an admin. I will retain my rights as a normal user but have no further activities. When i return from my Service i will go through and re-write the articles with any assistance offered. If the Community feels i should stay an admin i will take it under consideration, but until then I will step down. I thank you all for your paticence, support and understand. Knightmare 17:30, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Okey, I hear you. I understand your decision and hope that your service will end shortly (mostly for your sake - I don't know where you are, but it can't be a walk in the park, I imagine...) Peter R 18:25, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Categories of SG-1 and Atlantis

I don't know what we really should do with the categories SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. As I've interpreted it, we should use these categories when there are something major for just that series. From the beginning, I believe that SGCommand wanted these categories to be filled with virtually everything that happens during each series. This is not very functional, IMO. So I changed this, during a period. However, I don't know exactly what we should fill these categories with, so I ask for assistance.

  • What should be there, as I see it is:
    • Main characters (not the actors)
    • The main page of that series
    • The season pages of that series
    • ...... Something else? ........ Peter R 08:29, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Sounds reasonable to me. Since if we put the series on everything that is series related, they will get too big to be useful. I think maybe we should have sub-categories like SG1- Episodes, Atlantis - guest stars and even Atlantis - main characters. I'd suggest we have a template for the series main characters, and it can have the appropriate category embedded. To make all this work, let's lay out a category structure at categories. I'm flexible, but need something like that to remind me what categories we'll use and where. --CocoaZen 22:09, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)

A few questions...

1)On the episode pages, where do we put uncredited cast, shall we put them under Guest Stars or a new sub-heading as some episodes have a lot?

2)Are we including information on Stargate Infinity (the cartoon series) and the Stargate novels that have been made? (Not that I have any info on them in particular, I just wondered.)--GingerM 19:05, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)

1) I believe in giving credit whenever we can. I think your idea of the new sub-heading would probably be best. Other opinions?
2) My personal opinion is that we should cover these related items, as well as other related content like any conferences or spoofs. I know the Star Trek group has split into multiple wikis to cover "cannonical" and "non-cannonical" material, but I don't think it's necessary for us. I'm not sure what was in the original proposed scope (User:SGCommand might be able to tell us) but other wikis have expanded past their original plans. --CocoaZen 20:14, 18 Nov 2005 (UTC)
If we want to seperate the non-canonnical info, then we could do as in Memory Alpha. We use the sign : and write the tex in italic writing. Peter R 06:22, 19 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Lists of appearences

Is it "List of Appearences" or "List of appearences" we should call the lists? Peter R 06:22, 19 Nov 2005 (UTC)

I think all the boxes are linked to "List of Appearances" so we should make the articles there.--GingerM 20:29, 20 Nov 2005 (UTC)
