SG-7 was one of the original nine SG teams created by presidential order after Colonel Jack O'Neill's second expedition through the Stargate to Abydos. (SG1: "Children of the Gods")
SG-7, victims of an Engineered Virus.
Under the command of John Smith, SG-7 set up the Douglas Mclean Memorial Observatory on the planet Hanka to observe a black hole. Tragically, all of this team was later killed by Nirrti's Engineered Virus. (SG1: "Singularity")
Eventually, another version of SG-7 was formed, with this one being more focused on military efforts rather than the scientific research implications of the previous team. One of their missions featured a confrontation with Cronus, where Sergeant Castro sustained a serious head injury and her teammates had to take her to Cronus' Sarcophagus to save her life.
During a survey of a seemingly abandoned planet in Kali's territory, virtually all of SG-7 were killed by the Reetou during a three-way confrontation with Kali's First Prime and a squad of Jaffa; the only survivor was Captain Kirti Patel, who was saved by Kali's First Prime, known as the Thakka, due to Kali's orders to protect those humans of Indian heritage. Captain Patel subsequently accompanied Teal'c and the Thakka on a mission to confront the Reetou and save the rest of SG-1, but was uncertain if she would continue at the SGC after such a loss.
