Template:SG1-8Season eight of Stargate SG-1 began airing on July 9, 2004 on the US-American Sci Fi Channel. The eighth season concluded on February 22, 2005, after 20 episodes on British Sky One, which overtook the Sci Fi Channel in mid-season. The eighth season begins with the SG-1 team trying to revive Colonel Jack O'Neill after the events of the seventh season. At the end of the two-episode season opener, O'Neill is promoted to Brigadier General and assumes command of Stargate Command, while Samantha Carter is promoted to Lt. Colonel and assumes command of SG-1. The season arc centers around the growing threat and seemingly final defeat of the Goa'uld and the Replicators, races who had been introduced in the first season and third season of the show, respectively.

The Stargate Program is halted after Dr. Elizabeth Weir is in charge, even though Colonel Jack O'Neill is still in stasis in Antarctica. Eventually, they are allowed to send O'Neill to the Asgard in Othala to save O'Neill, but learn that the Replicators are back, and have taken Major Samantha Carter prisoner. Meanwhile, Dr. Daniel Jackson is to stay and negotiate with System Lords Amaterasu, Camulus and Yu.

Colonel Jack O'Neill's knowledge of the Ancients has managed to form a means to defeat the Replicators. Major Samantha Carter is still held prisoner by Fifth, who admits that he loves her. On Earth, the three System Lords test the operation of the weapon in Antarctica, by sending a ship to Earth. Later Dr. Daniel Jackson is also sent to Othala to fight the Replicators.

After Jack O'Neill is promoted to Brigadier General and commander of Stargate Command, and months after defeating Anubis' fleet, the Russians are combing the wreckage, where they encounter a strange entity. Later, the entity makes its way to the SGC to get out of Earth.

Brigadier General Jack O'Neill has second thoughts about being the leader of Stargate Command. Also, an alien plant takes control of part of the SGC, and SG-1 is kidnapped by Ba'al.

Dr. Daniel Jackson is declared MIA after he was in the middle of a World War on Tegalus, and the rebels have won. Jackson cannot reach home, as they have taken control of the planet's Stargate, and he relies on a small band of soldiers led by Jared Kane from the planet's military to take back the city, and defeat the rebel leader, Soren.

Teal'c tests the Virtual reality pods from P7J-989 SG-1 encountered six years ago, to simulate a Kull invasion of Stargate Command. The test is a success, but when the difficulty level increases, Teal'c gets stuck in the simulation, and the number of times he dies will eventually get him killed in reality.

Teal'c moves into an apartment with the public, but his attempts to reduce crime in his area often lands him in trouble. While he befriends a local woman, Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter continues her relationship with Pete Shanahan.

When Alec Colson, a wealthy industrialist intends on letting the public know of the existence of alien life after finding evidence on the Battle of Antarctica, Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter attempts to intervene and convince him that Stargate Command is too important to be revealed. However, the SGC is not the only secretive organization that wants to silence Colson.

The Hak'tyl Resistance plans on moving to another planet after Moloc finds out about the resistance. Rya'c intends to marry one of the Hak'tyl members. Teal'c and Ishta have an opportunity to take out Moloc.

Earth's Stargate goes missing after it is beamed away. Outside Earth, the Alpha Site loses contact with Earth and suspects something is wrong, while Teal'c finds out that every Jaffa on a planet is killed with no signs of battle. The rest of the team discover that The Trust is responsible for the missing Stargate.

SG-1 is shocked to see a duplicate of Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter, who reveals that she is a Replicator created by Fifth. She wishes to be destroyed with the Replicator disruptor, to prevent Fifth from getting his hands on her again, since he is heading straight for the Milky Way. However, the Tau'ri plan to have her help them defeat them, since she claims Fifth has created a cipher to become immune to the disruptor.

Lt. General George S. Hammond returns and offers Dr. Daniel Jackson to go with him on board the Prometheus to find the missing Atlantis expedition. However, on the way they pick up a distress signal and investigates. There, a Kull warrior makes its way on board, and imprisons Daniel and leaves the rest of the crew trapped on a damaged Al'kesh.

The System Lord Ares plans on taking back his old territories to reinforce himself against Ba'al. One of his planets happen to be the new home of Harold Maybourne. SG-1 comes to warn him, but find out that he has become king, and apparently knows this is going to happen.

Brigadier General Jack O'Neill finds Robert Kinsey in his home. He tells O'Neill that he needs help in taking down The Trust. However, in the process, he is taken and implanted with a Goa'uld, where he is trying to pit the Americans and Russians against each other when both parties accuse each other of having a Goa'uld spy within their ranks. If no one finds the truth, it may result in World War 3.

Joe Spencer, a barber from Indiana buys a mysterious stone in a garage sale seven years ago, and ever since then, has received several visions concerning SG-1 and their missions to save the world.

The Replicators arrive in the Milky Way and begin an all out assault on the Goa'uld. After they are wiped out, they will turn to the Human populations for resources. Dr. Daniel Jackson is captured by Replicator Carter, in order to get into his memories while he ascended. In the meantime, Teal'c and Bra'tac plan on getting the Jaffa free once and for all, by taking the holy land on Dakara, one of Ba'al's strongholds.

After successfully taking Dakara, Teal'c and Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter realize that the temple has a weapon that can defeat the Replicators once and for all. However, they have to work fast, as the Replicators discover about the temple also, as well as Ba'al's forces, to destroy it. Meanwhile, the Replicators attack Stargate Command.

After the defeat of the Replicators, Dr. Daniel Jackson ends up in an Astral Diner, where Oma Desala offers him ascension again. Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter starts having second thoughts about marrying Pete Shanahan, after finding out her father is dying. Anubis plans on taking Dakara and use the superweapon to destroy every living thing in the galaxy.

Dr. Daniel Jackson hears that Catherine Langford has passed away. He is then given her entire collection, where he discovers a location of a Zero Point Module to contact Atlantis. The catch is, they have to travel back in time to Ancient Egypt to get it. However, their efforts alters the timeline, where Daniel Jackson is a teacher, Samantha Carter is a secretary, and Jack O'Neill has retired.

After discovering a second Stargate in Antarctica, the team is sent to Chulak, to get to Teal'c and go to Egypt for the Zero Point Module. However, in the process the team are captured, and Teal'c is once again the First Prime of Apophis.
