In 2000, he captured Colonel Jack O'Neill, Dr. Daniel Jackson and Major Samantha Carter, believing them to be Optrican spies who fabricated the Stargate to try to convince the Bedrosians that their people had been brought through the Gate thousand of years earlier, instead of being created on that planet by Nefertum as he believed, refusing to accept any alternative explanation as otherwise his peoples' war was pointless. He tortured them in order to get them to admit that they were Optricans, continuing to fixate on that idea even after his forces dug up the Dial Home Device and he was contacted by Major General George S. Hammond through the active gate. SG-1 were eventually freed by Teal'c and Nyan, who retreated through the Stargate. (SG1: "New Ground")
