The Priors of the Ori carry staffs with them that amplify their basic mental abilities, which otherwise go little beyond small-scale telekinesis. When activating their powers, the staff will glow with a blue, ethereal light. The staffs are activated by the Priors through mental concentration. The staffs also allow the Priors to interact with the old Alteran technology (before they left the Ori galaxy) and Ori technology. Their staffs are interconnected (within a galaxy) which allows the Doci to provide them with new information. (SG1: "Avalon, Part 2", "Origin", "The Fourth Horseman, Part 2", "The Ark of Truth")
Merlin was shown in a hologram in the Avalon cave to wield a staff similar to the priors. It was a long thin, white rod with a light blue/white spiral design going up the top half with a small blue crystal orb on top. It was likely used the same way as a prior staff, to amplify Merlin's mental abilities. It can also be seen when Morgan Le Fay/Ganos Lal posed as Merlin to guide SG-1 to the Alteran Catacombs on Ortus Mallum during their search for the Ark of Truth.
