PXY-887 was a planet in the Milky Way galaxy and homeworld of the shapeshifting humanoids Neraida, and also to a human population known as the Salish. The planet was previously under the control of Goa'uld Amotkin. (RPG: "Friends and Foes: Stargate Season Two")
Overview[]
PXY-887 has limited polar ice caps and few desert regions, and possesses a salt-water ocean that covers approximately 35% of its surface. The weather tends to be mild and the native and transplanted species seem to thrive in relative harmony. PXY-887 land mass consists of a single continent, where the Stargate is located amidst a mountainous evergreen forest, similar to the Canadian Rockies of North America. Nearby rivers feed into an ocean approximately 800 miles to the west, with the continent gradually changing from evergreen to deciduous forest. (RPG: "Roleplaying Game")
History[]
The humans on this planet were transplanted by Amotkin to mine its rich deposits of tritium. However, their enslavement, while harsh was brief, as the local Neraida rescued the Salish. Here they lived amongst their beloved Spirits. Stargate Command discovered this planet was very rich in trinium, but the Salish Spirit eventually persuaded them to stop their mining operations, knowing their methods were too destructive to the planet. The planet was previously under Goa'uld control, and the Goa'uld abandoned the planet when the Spirits forced them away. When the Spirits later returned to 887 after they left Earth, they followed Colonel Jack O'Neill's suggestion and buried their Stargate for good so that the members of Stargate Command would not return, while also cutting off any and all contact with the Milky Way galaxy in general, as they had no interest in interstellar travel.
