P3X-888 is the Tau'ri designation for the homeworld of both the Goa'uld and Unas, the first race that the Goa'uld ever took as hosts. This world is also the only planet where Goa'uld larvae have been discovered in 'the wild', and also the only known world where Goa'uld were present in the fossil record, leading to Daniel Jackson to speculate that P3X-888 was also the Goa'uld's original homeworld. "Wild" Goa'uld still prowl the rivers and streams of the planet, from which their ancestors once leapt to take Unas as their first hosts. From there, they discovered the workings of the Stargate and abandoned the planet and spread amongst the stars — though Goa'uld and Unas still reside there in a hostile tension.

However here is no naquadah in the blood of these Goa'uld. It's possible these Goa'uld are not entirely malevolent and may not be entirely sentient either, as the Goa'uld that took SG team members as hosts did not seem to retain full control and did not seem to have any agenda other than the goal of inhabiting their host.

The moons of P3X-888.

P3X-888 orbits around a single sun and possesses two moons. The sun, a main sequence star with a moderate luminosity, heats the large oceans of the planet, particularly in the southern portion of the world due to its slightly abnormal axial tilt and rotation. Meanwhile, the moons have no gravitational effect on the planet whatsoever, leading to fairly constant tidal flows across the planet's surface.

P3X-888 is a temperate world, covered in significant portions of water and isolated landmasses rising above the sea level. Vegetation beyond the equatorial belt is sparse and becomes increasingly colder as one moves further north. 82% of the planet is covered with oceans, leaving the majority of its features submerged. A series of abyssal trenches run along to the southern portion of the world, starting from the equator, and slicing through the mantle. Large mountain ranges dot the ocean floor. The bulk of the surface area is covered in large forests of coniferous trees. (RPG: "Living Gods: Stargate System Lords")

The forest scenes for P3X-888 were filmed at GVRD North Vancouver, an area in Seymour Demonstration Forest, in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. That specific area is now home to Rice Lake Parking Lot.

Stargate SG-1: The DVD Collection issue 26 gives an alternate address for this planet (), while the episode Endgame gives the address . As Stargate SG-1: The Ultimate Visual Guide was produced at a later date, it can be assumed that these addresses have been overwritten.
