"I'm no expert, but that looks important."
Cameron Mitchell

The Ori power core is the power source of Ori motherships. Located in a massive room, the power core is reached via a single walkway from the door. When activated, the power core shoots energy up from its center, which presumably heads into the large ring situated in Ori battlecruisers. It appears to be crystalline in form, but it is still unknown how the power core generates energy. It is possible that if the core was to explode from a C-4 detonation, the ship would be destroyed as noted slightly by Adria.(SG1: "Counterstrike")

Behind the scenes

  • Some fans have noted that the power core bares a resemblance to the energy extractor of Project Arcturus, but no evidence exists to prove confirm or refute this.
  • It is presumed by fans that, if the Ori power core is an Arcturus-type reactor, it draws its energy from either the higher plane the Ori reside in or the Ori themselves in order to avoid the creation of highly exotic and physics-defying particles which not even Lantean forcefields can contain.
  • The core (along with the energy extractor of Project Arcturus) bares a great resemblance to the energy core of the Second Death Star, seen in Return of the Jedi.
