Omsock is a type of fern native to the Ro'malg's planet.

Overview[]

It grows in dangerous, insect infested, dark caves. The fern is able to grow despite the darkness due to the presence of magnesium carbonate crystals. The plant was used as an accessory worn by the natives. (INF: "The Look")

History[]

The fern had been an important part of Ro'malg society. They were worn as headdresses, which were seen as making the wearer beautiful. Individuals with bare heads without them were called ugly. The ferns were expensive to buy and natives, who couldn't afford them, would risk their lives venturing into the caves to obtain them.

The native Rikell had felt her life meant nothing without Omsock. Stacey Bonner, Seattle Montoya and R.J. Harrison attempted to help her gather Omsock but were unable to. After the kidnapping of Draga was settled, Gus Bonner made sure the fern headdress merchant involved in the affair gave Rikell the best headdress in his shop. Rikell realized that with it, she just looked like everyone else and gave back the headdress, deciding to just be herself. This sparked others from the society to return their headdresses too.
