Olympian tunics, also known as Olympian armor,[5] was the type of light armor worn by the Olympian Guard[4] and some Goa'uld.[5]
Overview[]
They had the deceptive appearance of long, elegant Grecian tunics made of white cotton, however, they were actually made of a special alloy that combined Trinium and platinum into a microscopically thin thread. This thread was woven into the tunics by special machines that wouldn't allow space to exist between the strands.[1]
The Olympian tunic's design allowed for the comfortable movement of a person and had better protection than Kevlar. They had a weakness to blunt melee weapons, as the fabric would simply bend with the weapon. It was effective against other melee weapons as cutting and thrusting weapons couldn't penetrate the weave and the same applied to bullets. Energy weapons had their energy dissipated over a wide area which negated much of the damage and consequently made them not much better than Tau'ri firearms.[2]
Lion mantles, which were treated with a similar substance as the Olympian tunics were made, could be worn with the tunics. Unlike them, the mantles didn't have the same weakness to blunt weapons.[1] (SG1: "Living Gods: Stargate System Lords")
History[]
Besides the Olympian Guard wearing the armor, Zeus preferred to wear the tunic instead of the traditional Jaffa armor chosen by most System Lords.[3] The Ashrak Perseus also wore Olympian armor.[5] (SG1: "Living Gods: Stargate System Lords")
