The Oasis of Repentance was a mythical oasis on the planet Abydos, which was said to exist by ancient pilgrims who wandered the desert in tribute to Ra. Should the Sun God find them worthy they would be guided to the oasis to live, otherwise they would perish at the hands of their god in the desert.
Even in more enlightened times a few still undertook the pilgrimage, often after they had committed some great sin and desired forgiveness. A handful of pilgrims over the centuries found the oasis and returned with stories of a paradise unlike any they had ever seen: lush valleys of trees, wildlife that scurry about in the underbrush and a mass of water as large as a plain; enough to even immerse one in. Most considered such pilgrims sick from their time in the desert and quickly dismissed their claims. (RPG: "Roleplaying Game")
