Necropolis Guards were the Jaffa guards of the Goa'uld and former System Lord Sokar. Unlike the traditional silver-gray armor, the Necropolis guards wore red armor. Their helmets had horns, giving them a demonic appearance. (SG1: "Jolinar's Memories") Unlike most Jaffa guard who served under the Goa'uld, the Necropolis Guard served Sokar more out of fear than religious devotion, due to their master's cruel and sadistic treatment of those who fail him.
Apophis later absorbed all of these Jaffa into his army and outfitted them with serpent helmets, although they were allowed to keep their distinctive color scheme. (SG1: "Upgrades") Due to Sokar's cruel treatment of them and his servents, they served Apophis loyally and quickly accepted him as their new god.
Although Apophis had helmet-less red Jaffa and Demon Serpent Guards within his army, at least five Necropolis Guards were in his service after Sokar's death, one with Sokar's own distinctive mark on his forehead, and four being Apophis' personal guard. One of these guards was a Tok'ra spy. (SG1: "Maternal Instinct", "The Serpent's Venom", "Enemies")
