Miranda Torrance was a Major working for the United States of America and was the defence counsel assigned to Major John Sheppard's trial in Florida following his rescue of several Rangers from Taliban territory. She stood at five foot eleven at the time of the trial and was considered to have shoulders reminiscent of a bulldog and a mindset to match, with spiky gray hair. Torrance was attempting to argue Sheppard's case for him in front of Judge Vance, and against the prosecutor, Colonel Chadwick. Before the trial was able to conclude, however, Agent Lily Cortez came forward with a manilla envelope containing an affidavit which allowed Sheppard to keep his rank and flight privileges, but forced him to transfer to McMurdo Air Force Base.
