Greetings Jaymach Ral'Tir!

I received your 'Welcome to the Wiki' message and have scanned the links/rules.

I made contact with  MechQueste, originally on their message page with a question about why SG-1 and SGA episode first-air dates are different on this site from the ones on,, and (This discrepency starts in SGA with the episode The Return, Part 2, which they list as airing first on 4/13/07, and this site lists as from 11/20/06, and with SG-1 with the episode The Quest, Part 2, which they have at 4/13/07, and which this site lists as from 1/9/07.)

Now that I see your profile is from the U.K., I am wondering if the dates differ due to which side of the pond the hosting site is on.  Were those episodes aired earlier in the U.K. than in the U.S.?

MechQueste plans to get back to me on this, but if you have any info about it, I will let them know.  I'm trying to fit a storyline (excerpt posted on discussion page) realistically around the end of SG-1 canon and on into SGA, so accurate dates are helpful for establishing the weather in Colorado then, etc.

Thanks for your time!

Please do not continue adding information from "System Lord Plot Hooks" until a consensus is reached as to whether or not it should be considered canon. The discussion can be found here. 17:40, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Jaymach! Thanks for all the good work you've been doing here. I'm sorry it's been months (going on a year) since I've been able to participate much. I have a concern that the GFDL for this site is being mis-understood. Things that are published on this site are released under GFDL, so their future use may not be restricted in the way that Template:Stargatecaps requests. That means we will need to remove those images. :-( Please see SGCommand:Copyrights and the copyrights information on the Central Wikia. As one of the more active current users, I hope you can help share this information and maybe help with replacement images that fit the guidelines? By the way, are you interested in being an administer? --CocoaZen 21:57, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Hmmm...I've been going by the same guidelines we use over on the Wookieepedia, which can be found over here. Of course we don't use the same tagging over here as is done on the Wookieepedia, but I'd assume that the law remains the same; if this is so, then I'd advise copying over some of the image tagging templates from the Wookieepedia to use here. And sure, I'd love to be an doesn't mean all too much at the moment, as we have very little editing let alone vandalism, but it could be useful later. :) —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 23:06, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
Then you might want to check the Wookieepedia rules against Wikia's and find out more about the legal status of screencaps from copyrighted material.
Specifically in the case of Stargate caps, GFDL means that you can't say they can be used here, but not somewhere else. So, since Stargatecaps were "allowed" for here only, they cannot be used under GFDL, so they can't be used on Wikia. I put the link to the conversation on the Central Wikia on the template's talk page.
I don't know the status of screencaps in general. I've seen people claim that they are ok, but they had no legal background, and in a few cases said things that they said were incorrect. As far as I know, this issue still needs follow-up. I hope someone will follow-up so we won't need to remove a lot more images.
Please be aware that if you add illegal images, you are legally responsible.
--CocoaZen 21:36, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. That will make things so much easier if they ever start iding address on SGA again. -- SFH 21:53, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

new tabs...Edit

Jaymach - You may notice some extra tabs now on this Wikia's pages. You are now an administrator here. See Wikia:Help:Administrators' how-to guide for more information. Use the force for good! :-) Enjoy. --CocoaZen 20:30, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Thanks...and don't worry about it, I'm used to the tabs from over on the Wookieepedia (the Star Wars Wiki). —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 22:05, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry it's late but:

Welcome to Stargate Command. Your recent contributions are much appreciated. Looking forward to more.

Tenses Edit

If you have a desire to have incorrect then that is your prerogative, it is wrong however. MatthewFenton 19:14, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Furlings? Edit

Where did you get the information about the previous residents of Madrona (that you wrote here in the infobox)? —Marco Polo 22:16, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

  • It's in the RPG book. The Furlings are apparantly the race who terraformed Madrona, and also the inventors of the Touchstone...I've just not got around to doing Madrona yet...want me to write it up so there's no more confusion? —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 00:25, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Address templatesEdit

Sorry, Jaymach, but I had to revert the change of from 20px back to 25px. The addresses didn't show up at 20px. -- SFH 03:23, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I've spoken to sannse about it...turns out the latest MediaWiki upgrade has some problems with .svg images. Basically, it's unable to display thumbnails for any of them...but because we already had 25px thumbnails generated for those .svg images, they'll still work as long as we don't change them away from 25px...hopefully it will be fixed soon so that I can move it down to 20px. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 15:24, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Images Edit

I uploaded the Gamekeeper point of origin image for you. However, I cannot fix the other problem (transparency) because the images are transparent. Wikia's thumbnailer does not do any transparency, so the transparent portions of the SVG images are white. —Marco Polo 23:01, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion? Edit

I Suggest that if you already have these info boxes use them, It makes the page look a lot more professional and clean, It also takes almost no time to add them! -- Awar 04:27, 28 March 2007 (UTC).

  • Please dont take this as being rude but merely a personal thought on how to improve this site to make the best information source on stargate. -- Awar 04:27, 28 March 2007 (UTC).

Osiris's Ship Edit

I appreciate you moving it, but shouldn't it be Osiris' Ship (without the extra s)? -- Reignfire 20:34, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Official Friends of SGCommandEdit

Hey, this is a nice wiki you have here, I like it. Anyway, I know we have had our differences on the Wookieepedia IRC, but I would like to know where I could find the "Official Friends of SGCommand" page? I can't seem to find any, but if you are looking for any, SWGames would love to be a friend to here. We need to gain in popularity, and so I decided to come to one that is really popular and has good articles. Thank you very much! supergeeky1 21:58, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

List of StargatesEdit

I stumbled across this wikipedia:Planets in Stargate which might help you with List of Stargates. -- Reignfire 06:23, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

  • The problem with that list is that it's full of fan-made Tau'ri designations and addresses...I'm checking each address as I add it to the list so that they're all correct. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 06:25, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
    • Well... I never said it was accurate :p -- Reignfire 06:32, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

DVD Collection magazineEdit

I noticed you skipped Stargate SG-1: The DVD Collection 59. I didn't know if this was on purpose or not, so I just wanted to point it out. -- Reignfire 15:39, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Yes, I realized...unfortunately issue 59 didn't get delivered when it was meant to. I've already complained to the company, and I'm meant to get it I should add the article for it within the next 2 weeks at most. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 23:05, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Do the DVD Collection Magazines add anything new to the Stargate universe or simply repeat the samethings that are said or shown on the show? I see that the 59 one has an entry called 'Creations of the Ori' so was just wondering. Anyway main question I wanted to ask is that is it in the magazines that the Asgard Science class gets its name from? Darth Batrus 22:34, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Sorry for taking so long to get back to you...the "The DVD Collection" magazines do indeed add to the Stargate universe, though the level of what they add varies from article to article. The "Creations of the Ori" article, for example, mostly just gives details on the Ori's "sacrificial pyre" as well as noting differences between patterns on the Prior's faces. There may be a bit of new information in it, but a quick glance over it doesn't show anything glaring to me. Nevertheless, if you want me to scan it then I'm more than happy to do so. I already have a bunch of the pages up at my site. :) —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 01:36, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Entertainment footerEdit

Hi there -- I'm working on a project for Wikia to help link the science-fiction wikis together, and encourage people to see this as one big site, rather than a lot of little wikis. I'd like to post this footer at the bottom of the main page.

[Template fetch failed for]

The gaming wikis have started a similar project, and they've seen a lot more cross-traffic. Would it be okay to post this at the bottom of the main page here? You could also feel free to edit it, to fit in better with this community. -- Danny (talk) 20:36, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this...I've been inordinately busy with my work as of late...but I'd be perfectly okay with putting that on the bottom of the main okay that I've just done so...and we really need to work on our main page. Ah well, that can happen later. :) —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 08:20, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Cool, thank you! -- Danny (talk) 21:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

SciFi wiki Edit

I'm an admin on SciFi Wiki which needs help with Stargate information, could you or someone you know help? Also, is there a place I can ask other users to help out?--UESPA 23:56, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Jaymach - Do me a big favour please Edit

Make User:SGCommand an admin please--SGCommand wikia 19:36, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

  • I apologize for taking so long to get back to you, but I've been mulling this over in my head the past few days to decide what to do. While I do understand that you used to be an administrator on the site, and indeed that you even founded the wiki, I'm afraid I don't feel that gives you the right to turn up out of the blue and ask for a position of authority again. The very fact that you haven't edited at all (besides making an edit to your userpage) since returning was really the deciding factor for me, as you seem to want the admin position again simply to say "I'm an admin over there". Feel free to prove me wrong and start contributing to the site again and I will be happy to rethink my position, but at the moment I simply don't see any reason why I should acquiesce to this request. Apologies, but I'd like to see you contribute first. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 18:01, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi Jaymach. I'm Wendy, a helper with the Entertainment group. I just wanted to give you a heads up that Stargate will be one of the spotlighted wikis for the next two weeks, because of the Ark of Truth release. You have things running pretty well here, so I'm sure you'll be fine, but I wanted to let you know that you might have some extra traffic. -- Wendy (talk) 01:29, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the heads up...I had better start contributing a bit more to set an example. :P —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 01:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Transwiki two wikipedia articles Edit

Hello. I am wikipedia:User:Sgeureka, and I am currently cleaning up Stargate-related wikipedia articles. I got your name because you mentioned your interest at wikipedia:Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Stargate to have the Atlantis episode articles transwikied here (which is currently being done).

I have two wikipedia articles that may be of interest for this fan wiki, but are inappropriate for wikipedia. It is wikipedia:Timeline of Stargate and wikipedia:Goa'uld language. Since you have admin rights, you may be interested in importing at least the second article (per wikipedia:User:Ned_Scott/transwiki#Importing.2FExporting). I also transwikied an article to before it got deleted on wikipedia, which could be imported here.

Let me know what you think. I will probably nominate the first two wikipedia articles for deletion in about two weeks. Sgeureka 17:05, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you...I've been reading over the articles and the instructions on how to export/import them...I'll be doing so later today, but the main problem I have with it is that they're written from an out of universe perspective, whereas we prefer past tense in universe perspective on this I'll import, then try to change it so it fits with the wiki. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 00:26, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
...And wikipedia throws a fit when it is written in in-universe past tense. :-) This was just an offer to save some info for the interested fans, so take your time, even if you decide in the end it's not really the kind of content this wiki is looking for. Just let me know when you're finished. Have a nice rest-weekend. :-) Sgeureka 22:46, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Main PageEdit

Hi again Jaymach. As I've been browsing around here the last couple of days I keep looking and looking at the main page. I also noticed that you mention wanting to redo it a few discussions up from here. Would you be interested in working on that now? I thought maybe we could open a discussion on Talk:Main Page to see what other users would like to see added/changed, but if you think it would be better, I'd also be happy to just mock something up and put it under my namespace to see what people think and go from there. Or if you want to take a shot at it that would be great, because you certainly know the wiki better than I do. what do you think? -- Wendy (talk) 00:36, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

  • My main problem is that, though I know the wiki quite well, I have no sense of aesthetics at all so it's hard for me to design anything. If you want to design a mock-up, then it would be most appreciated...if anything needs added/removed from it then I could let you know from there. To be honest, I'd also like to have another name for the site (seeing as SGCommand is simply the name of the founder) but I can't think of anything for the life of me. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 01:03, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Hi there -- take a look at User:Merrystar/Mainpage and see what you think. I took out some of the content links because there were just so many. I also took out "Vote for Stargater of the Month" since it seemed to be dead, and the Birthday banner, because I was having trouble making it work with the two columns. I can try to put that last back in if you want. I tried not to add too much stuff you'd really have to update, but to leave a spot where you *could* update stuff. If you wanted, we could add something about the IRC room too, but I wasn't sure. -- Wendy (talk) 18:14, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Thanks for that with SFH, I like the design...I'm not too sure with the black on the headers, but until we get our new skin then I'm not too sure what other colour we could use. As such, I'll go and implement the new main page just now. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 00:26, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
  • Cool. I'm glad you like it. Feel free to remove the black; the default pale blues and aquas just seemed wrong for stargate to me.... and then I saw Jack in a black skicap and went with it. Are you working on a new skin? I wondered why it was "Monaco-custom" but basically still sapphire. -- Wendy (talk) 01:19, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
  • btw, have you ever thought about moving "Main Page" to a better title? Like "Stargate Wiki" for example. It actually helps search engines find you if the probably search terms (stargate, wiki) are in the title. Just a thought. (if you do move it you have to edit Mediawiki:Mainpage to reflect the new name as well). -- Wendy (talk) 01:23, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

stargate Edit

I added the <br> tags on that page because an image was over lapping some text; perhaps you don't see that on your end? kluft 07:06, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi! Just so you know -- I made a change on MediaWiki:Monaco-toolbox... There was a cache problem that was making "What links here" not work on a lot of sites. So what I did should fix it. -- Danny@fandom (talk) 02:12, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Disambiguations Edit

I started working on this because there were so many pages linking to Wormhole X-Treme! instead of Wormhole X-Treme! (episode). It seemed to me that my move would make things a bit clearer, but if the criterion is what you wrote, I'll stick to it.

Anyway, we could make a page called Wormhole X-Treme! (disambiguation). What do you think?

BTW, sorry if I kept editing while you reverted, I didn't realize it. Next time, if you write in my talk page I'll know immediately and stop immediately!

--Lou Crazy 01:07, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

  • You can make the disambiguation page if you like, but it seems rather pointless when there's only 2 articles with that name, and the one at the main page links to the other. No worries about continuing to edit...I figured that's what had happened, but if I thought if I left a message on your talk page then you wouldn't have seen it until after you made the edit which changed the main article into a disambiguation. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 01:16, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
    • Well, you're right, with just 2 it would be overkill. I wouldn't have added more links to the (show) page, though :-)
    • --Lou Crazy 01:46, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Sock puppet sighting Edit

I understand that you were the one who blocked Sam10. Well I have reason to believe that To10 is a sock puppet of him (he was the one who created the imaginary planet of "P9D-851"). Other evidence includes the poor grammar and the introduction on both user pages are uncannily similar.—Matthew R Dunn 11:53, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello again, there is a new user who goes by So10. I should seriously recommend that this user be banned because he is an evident sockpuppet of Sam10, To10 and Do10. These pages are definately from the same user. Evidence includes the number 10 on the end of each user name and his real name is Sam on all the infoboxes. You can take a look at them yourself. I suggest banning him before he causes more damage to this Wiki. Please come back to me whether you agree or disagree. Matthew R Dunn 12:37, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Fandimonium novels and Big Finish Audio are not and have never been canon. This is direct from the producers of the show. Mallozzi must have answered that about 10 times by now on his blog. Do you honestly think they would accept a retrofit of their canon where a major character was replaced by an alternate version created by some fanfic writing wannabe? If you want this wikia to be respected as anything but the fanboy joke that it is currently considered, you need to get a grip on the difference between "canon" and licensed merchandise. Or do you perhaps now believe that it is "canon" that SG1 are 8" tall and made of plastic?

The character assassination you are currently indulging in on the Daniel Jackson page also adds little to your credibility. How many times does Brad Wright have to confirm that Daniel did NOT "do nothing" in Abyss before it sinks in? Try watching it again with both your eyes and ears open and you might notice there are some fairly clear visual and audio cues scattered through out the episode for people who don't need to be spoon-fed. In fact, perhaps a re-viewing of the entire ascension arc may help your understanding that Daniel's continual and escalating breaches of Ascended law lead to his descension, not one single action in one episode. They're called "story arcs" BTW, Stargate has quite a few of them...

Daniel Jackson controversy Edit

I left a question on the talk page that you probably should respond to. -- SFH 19:23, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

Administration Edit

Hey Jaymach, I was wondering if you could make me (Anubis 10545) an administrator here. I placed my name on the SGCommand:administration page, but either you haven't seen it... or you disregarded it. Thanks for your time. Anubis 10545 17:13, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Don S. DavisEdit

Don S. Davis passed away 6/29/08 and I was thinking that that could be placed on the front page under CurrentEvents. I was going to do it myself, but I didn't want to get an administrator (such as yourself) angry at me for editing the content of the front page (just in case). Hopefully this doesn't sound in bad taste, because I mean it in respect. — Anubis 10545 01:49, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Main Page Edit

Hiya. Just wanted to bring your attention to this. —Scott (talk) 20:14, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Meredith Edit

I realize that Rodney's first name is Meredith, but he goes by Rodney McKay and that is used much more often. As per general Wikipedia syntax, the most-used full name is the title. The full "Meredith Rodney McKay" is best suited to the first few words of the article, in bold. —Marco Polo 12:51, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

  • Yes, but we haven't used Wikipedia standards here for a long time. It was decided quite a long time ago (as per our manual of style that full names should always be used, even when nicknames or shorter names are more common. Wikipedia may work for real-world articles, but it's never worked very well for fictional universes whereas most other Wikia wikis use the same type of rules that we implemented here. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 12:59, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
    • There is no reason why these two people are so unlike real people that they don't get the same treatment. I can see possible issues with characters like Teal'c, but not with someone like O'Neill or McKay. Also, as per our manual of style: "The titles of articles about individual characters should be the name by which the character was most commonly known in the the Stargate universe, with later names preferred to earlier names, and full names preferred to partial names or nicknames. Titles, such as military ranks or titles of nobility, should be omitted." That means Jack O'Neill and Rodney McKay, because that is how they are most commonly known. As I said, I acknowledge that Jack's full name is Jonathan J. O'Neill, but I think it should be at the beginning of the page, not in the title. Example from Wikipedia: wikipedia:Michael Dukakis. —Marco Polo 13:19, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
      • Notice the full names preferred to partial names or nicknames part of that rule. I know that Wikipedia does things differently, but it was agreed upon some time back that we would not use the same rules as Wikipedia. I don't mean to sound like a "it's my way and not your way"'s not just my way, it was decided upon by the community at that time. That having been said, I also personally dislike Wikipedia's rules...I'd prefer that "Michael Dukakis" be at "Michael Stanley Dukakis" and that "Marilyn Manson" be at "Brian Hugh Warner" but it's been decided upon among the community of Wikipedia to have them at other names, I try not to change it. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 13:34, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
        • Those rules were agreed to for a reason. The reason we use the common name even when the real name is available is for a practical reason—more people are bound to search for "Marilyn Manson" than "Brian Hugh Warner", just as more people look for "Jack O'Neill" than "Jonathan J. O'Neill". The full name is still communicated, but it emphasizes the best-known name of the person/character. The "nickname" portion of the above is there to avoid people having the page at "Jack", for example. "Jack O'Neill" is a "full name" in this context. Also, we still use Wikipedia as the basis for most of our style rules, with few exceptions. We haven't diverged to any significant degree, except for a couple Stargate-specific areas. The written point there is essentially the same as Wikipedia's version on naming conventions, with added exceptions to "strange names" (which we come across often here). "Jack O'Neill" definitely does not count as a strange name. Besides, they were "Jack O'Neill" and "Rodney McKay" for a long time. Why change it now? —Marco Polo 14:04, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
          • We won't be changing it. They've been at Jonathan J. O'Neill and Meredith Rodney McKay for a while now, and I can't authorise changing them just because one person wants to when it was agreed upon by a community that they would be at their full names. And the rules were created purely to have them at their entire full name, as per what the Wookieepedia (the most successful fictional universe wiki) does. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 14:08, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
            • I see no record of a discussion on this, so I don't see how you can claim to have the community behind you on this one. The Star Wars wiki doesn't apply here because they have weird names which can't easily be compared to Earth names (i.e. I don't see many middle names there). I'm pretty sure that we as a community decided to base our style on Wikipedia (the most successful wiki period), which applies better to Earth names. For space names like those in Wookieepedia and the Goa'uld names like Teal'c, just saying "use the full name" works because few creatures or whatever have more formal names than common names. The Wikipedia community decided that the common name method is the best, and just because you don't personally agree with the method doesn't mean you can dictate the way things work here. —Marco Polo 14:57, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
              • Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, but there was an IT crisis at one of the companies I work for last night so I had to head out quickly and then had to do my day-job today. Anyway...the community discussion was largely held out in the IRC chat room and so there wouldn't be any evidence of it on the site itself...I can try to find someone who keeps logs from that far back, but I certainly don't have any. If you really require them, however, then I can try to ask around. As you can see, you have been reverted by another member of the community; if you want to have articles at nicknames and/or partial names, then feel free to start up another discussion which I'll be happy to take part in and accept the outcome of. Until you do so, however, please don't ignore parts of the rules and dictate the way things should be just because you want it that way. And what the Wikipedia community decided doesn't matter here; this isn't the Wikipedia. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 18:03, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
  • I am more interested in the current view of the community than what was determined in some chat room with no logs, and so I would like a vote to be held on the wiki itself to resolve the matter. As a matter of fact, I did notice that my edit was reverted, although I think it was more on impulse than anything else. I don't want nicknames or partial names to be used, but I do want common names to be used. "Jack O'Neill" is not a nickname, it is his usual name. "Johnny Six-fingers" is a nickname. When he formally introduces himself, he says "Jack O'Neill". The only place it won't say "Jack O'Neill" is on his birth certificate, which lists his full given name, with as many names as he wants. The exact same thing applies to "Rodney McKay". He uses his middle name all the time. The only reason we are aware of his first name is because he has a talkative sister. Another example: Paul McCartney. His first name is "James", but no one is going to look up the famous Beatles singer, James McCartney. We put the page at it's most known name. The rules have stemmed from this basic fact. From Wikipedia's Manual of Style (which is written in much more unambiguous language): "Use the most commonly used English version of the name of the subject as the title of the article, as you would find it in verifiable reliable sources." I know that you don't give any credence to the collected decisions of the largest group of wiki users to exist, but I guarantee you that they thought long and hard to come up with this style choice. If that is not enough, here is another guide, in case of disputes: "When there is evenly divided usage and other guidelines do not apply, leave the article name at the latest stable version. If it is unclear whether an article's name has been stable, defer to the name used by the first major contributor after the article ceased to be a stub." I don't see what more I can do to convince you—I have thousands of pages of evidence here. I'd use evidence from this wiki, but you changed it to your way. You, on the other hand, have provided no concrete evidence to support your claims. To recap: I am not going against or ignoring any part of our MoS, just your interpretation of it (you seem to have a different definition of what a nickname is). And do not try to say that the article has been stable, since it was only left alone because I didn't notice. Although I must give you credit for citing Wookieepedia, you didn't give a specific example to illustrate your point, so I can't see where your thinking comes from. I am really out of ideas to convince you that this is the way things are supposed to be, because nothing I show you has any importance to you. And here's another example, for the road: Bob Dylan. —Marco Polo 06:29, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
    • Again, appologies for getting back to you so's just been hectic lately. Anyway, as to what you were saying...the view represented in the chat room certainly was the current view of the community as of about three or four months ago. Just because it's not your view doesn't mean that it wasn't the view of the community. Many Wikia wikis develop policies and guidelines in chat rooms due to the fact that Wikia themselves encourage it; at the time of the decision, there was in fact a SiteNotice up informing all users that they were welcome to use the chat room. That having been said, I find it strange that you seem to only selectively read what's written on this site...first with the naming policies, and now with what I've stated and so I'll state it again...if you wish to start up another discussion, either on the site or in the IRC chat room, then I will be happy to take part and will be happy to accept the outcome. And no, I don't give any credence to the decisions made on any other site in the world, not just the decisions made on Wikipedia. The only place that matters to me when editting this site is...this site. The reason I dislike Wikipedia's policies, however, stems from the fact that they're widely seen to be a "bullshit website" which is something often seen in both the media and on other web sites. Their pages on fictional universes are often full of incorrect information, assumptions, fan theories, and are incomplete. The entire reason I edit here rather than on Wikipedia's Stargate pages is because of this; it's impossible for me to fix all of their assumptions and incorrect information on my own. Also, I find it odd that you think that the naming policy is "my way" as, if you'd like to check the history of that page, you'd see that I've never editted it once, I simply enforce the rules laid out on it. And you want examples from the Wookieepedia? Personally, I don't see why, but okay...Mitth'raw'nuruodo for Thrawn, Jabba Desilijic Tiure for Jabba the Hutt, Beru Whitesun Lars for Beru Lars, Hart-and-Parn Gorra-Fiolla for Fiolla, Derek Klivian for Hobbie Klivian...if you need more examples, then I'll be happy to go on. The reason I prefer articles at their full name is that this site is meant to be a place for people to learn. If someone searched for Jack O'Neill and they're suddenly at a page called Jonathan J. O'Neill then they're likely to question why and read on a bit rather than assuming Jack O'Neill must be his official name and Jonathan J. is just some thing that was used in the movie. As I've said before though...if you want to change the policies, then please feel free to start up a forum topic on it and I'll quite happilly give a more detailed answer. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 21:03, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

I seriously suggest that you reconsider this policy. On the wiki here that I help run, South Park Archives, we have the opposite policy. Myself and the Wikia staff and helpers that assist me there all agree that this policy is for the best. There are several reasons for it. The most important being searches. It would vastly improve the Google search results of the wiki to have the page titles be the most common name. In addition, it is excessive. Titles should only be what they must. No more. Simplicity looks better and works better.
On another note. I completely agree with you that Wikipedia's policies are all messed up. They have some rules there that just appalls me. Wikipedia is corrupted beyond repair. That's why I went to other wikis. A lot of policies at Wikipedia are bullcrap. But this is not one of those policies. Just because the site as a whole is bad doesn't mean that there is nothing good in it at all.—Matt (talk) 20:41, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Non-canon information Edit

Hello Jaymach,

I'd like to thank you for notifying me about this information about the mistakes in the edits I made pertaining to the firearms of Stargate Command.

It's just that I like to add factual information to firearms in different universes, such as Stargate, etc. Hell, I know how difficult it is when people add non-canonical information to your Wikia, leaving you to clean it up.

For that I apologize, and if you'd like, I will hapily revert all of my added content back to it's original state.

Thank you, and have a good day!,
CommanderTony 19:43, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

So I finally got around to making that patch thing Edit

See my user page, and let me know what I should do with the colors, which match the patch photo you gave me (more or less) but are quite fugly. :P

Also, I can do all the different numbers, but I need samples of the font. - Trip 15:15, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for getting around to that...finally. :P I'll see what I can do about getting you some of the other number patches soon, though work has been hell as of late. If you're trying to catch me, you'd be better off leaving a message in the Stargate chat room on Freenode. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 21:03, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello Jaymach. I was wondering if you could make me an administrator here. I have admin experience as I am one on Monk wiki, even if that wiki is... young? (for lack of a better word). And I also have much experience here, having 3,562 edits (the third highest). I was recently contacted by Jeffrey123450 about an idea to put a timeline section into the Monaco-sidebar. It would say timeline and then branch out into each decade listed on the Timeline article (although the timelime article could use a lot of work first, which he was going to do). What do you think about this. If I had admin rights, I could easily do this myself. Thanks for your time,—Anubis 10545 16:28, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Redirects Edit

Okay, Jaymach, I know that this is what the names were from the DVD magazines, but seriously, you need to use a little common sense when making redirects. The whole "last name, first name" thing is reasonable, but lately, you've been making some very weird ones. I mean "Tritan, The"? "Probe, Wraith"? Who is going to type that? -- SFH 20:14, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Honestly, I'm making redirects for anything that's named that way in the DVD Collection glossaries, just in case people reading the magazines want to find out more information on the wiki and type the name out exactly as it appears...that and the fact that it does no's not like we have an article limit. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 21:29, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Help me Edit

Sorry to bother you, but there are three users (who I suspect are from the same person) Keeps writing down nonsense on the Hive Queen page, and I keep reverting it. Please do something about it, as my patience is getting a little thin now. -- Matthew R Dunn 11:25, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about taking so long to get around to this; you caught me on the only Sunday I work this week I'm afraid. The page is now locked from new and unregistered users though, so they shouldn't be able to edit it any longer. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 16:57, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Please ban, as he/she keeps removing information for the Asgard article. I warned him or her not to do it again, but he/she didn't listen, so please do something about it. -- Matthew R Dunn 23:41, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Earth and Tar'ui Edit

****IMPORTANT**** Edit

Don't delete my article about earth and tau'ri or i will report you to stargate wiki!

I'm one of the admins on the Stargate wiki, so you'd be reporting me to yourself. Your page has been deleted by not just one but two admins already. It is not a suitable article for this wiki and so, if you create it again, it will be deleted over and over. If you continue this behaviour then I am likely to ban you from editting the wiki at all. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 15:36, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Lovejosefin Edit

I'm not sure if this warrants any action, but I'm positive that Lovejosefin is a so-called "sock puppet" of the other usernames listed above - (Sam10, Lo10) etc. The infoboxes on his userpages also match. He may have changed the "style" of his name, but it's him. Evidenced by the same terrible grammar and editing/creation of the same types of articles. I've been following his contributions and fixing them and just going through Sam10's contribution log I've noticed other users have followed his image uploads and articles and corrected them as well. —Ka'lel 05:22, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I've known they're the same person ever since he made his first edit, I'm just not really sure what to do about it sadly. His contributions, however, are starting to annoy me also as he's making large assumptions and creating so many Unnamed Planet articles that we just don't need at all. I'll consider doing something later tonight when I'm not about to head off for work, but I'll just leave it in the meantime. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 05:42, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
He's back: User:To10. —Ka'lel 15:47, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello Jaymach. With all of these changes you've been making, I was wondering if you could give me Bureaucratic rights. (Not that I'd have to use them anytime soon) but it would be nice for the future. I was just thinking about it the other day... and apparently today as well. —Anubis 10545 02:05, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Stupid Question...Edit

Why did you move Squad Automatic Weapon M-249 machine gun to what's—essentially—a ridiculous and nonsensical name. I mean, it's like calling a Ford Mustang an "automobile Ford Mustang car" or a 747 a "airplane 747 aircraft". Essentially, a Squad Automatic Weapon is a type of machine gun and the proper way to describe one. Please cite your sources for this ridiculous nomenclature. Deathbunny 03:49, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

I moved it to that name because that's what it's called in Stargate SG-1: The DVD Collection 17, Stargate SG-1: The Ultimate Visual Guide and a couple more of The DVD Collection magazines. While I understand that it doesn't make sense when you know the real name of the weapon, we have to go with whatever it's called in the Stargate universe on this website and not include any real-world information in the article. That's what the Wikipedia is for. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 04:11, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Wait, so do you actually want 3 pages on the same ship. BC-303 really should be a re-direct.—Anubis 10545 18:38, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

I mean, I'm not going on a rampage here. I am entitled to my opinion and I would never let that get in the way of what needs to be done. I genuinely believed that we shouldn't have a BC-303 page be anything more than a redirect. We've had that discussion before and we've all disagreed on it. Heck, some people thought we should just have 1 article altogether regarding Prometheus. But I mean, most of the info on the BC-303 page is directly copied from the X-303 and Prometheus page.—Anubis 10545 18:46, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

As you'll see from my edit on the Sun Tzu talk page, I'm fine with you having an opinion, and I respect having you as an editor. However, when you shout at people on talk pages and tell them "this will never happen" or "that will never happen" just because you don't like it, it's very unbecoming of someone who is meant to represent this site. While I understand that everyone has their bad days, and I fully accept that I've had my own too, I've seen this to be your behaviour more and more over the past few weeks. I'm not going to go to Wikia staff currently, but I feel it prudent to let you know that your attitude over this time has been making me feel the need to go to them more and more. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 20:53, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
I hadn't realized I had been so "demanding/rude". Sorry, and I really didn't mean to be.—Anubis 10545 20:57, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
In the words of Rodney Mckay: "I'm turning over a new leaf, A kinder, gentler Anubis 10545".

HK SL8 Edit

Honestly, that book, I love it but it's got so many screw-ups on the firearms it's ridiculous--even as far as show continuity goes.

I mean, what's the point?

Feh! I give up.

Between that and the illogical OOU stuff.

Deathbunny 03:03, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Believe me, I hated moving that page...I'd much rather have it at the proper real-world name but, as a Stargate source has given a different name for it, we have to assume that maybe it's got a different name in the Stargate universe. I'm happy to keep or expand the behind the scenes section, explaining the problem that we both have with the book/article, but until told otherwise we sadly have to assume that it's the Stargate name for the weapon. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 11:32, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Ship Sizes Edit

Hey Jaymach! I was wondering if it was alright for me to add in relative sizes for the Hive Ship and City Ship articles with around 4 km. for the Hive Ship and 20 km. for the City Ship. I got the one for the Hive Ship by comparing the ship with the Aurora seen in the scene where the allied fleet jumps into hyperspace right before the Battle of Asuras. I got the one for the City Ship by crunching the numbers I got when Rodney made the comment about Atlantis being like Manhattan with gets to about 20 kilometers. We all know that those magazines are by no means accurate or complete, so what do you say?-Railgun88 04:25, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

We try not to include fan-made lengths on this wiki for the simple reason that they could be completely inaccurate. Though we know the size of Manhattan in real life, who's to say that it's not much smaller in the Stargate universe? Certainly the real Manhattan wouldn't have fit in the area that Atlantis did next to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Additionally, when it comes to visual evidence, we have the problem that each visual effects studio seems to use their own models for ships, or their own dimensions for them. Thus we have ships that go up and down in size a lot or change shape every so often. For this reason, we try to only include official statistics from licensed sources, as visual evidence simply can't be relied upon. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 20:23, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Senator Armstrong Edit

Joseph Mallozzi referenced a "Senator Armstrong" in his blog here. And at the very least, the disambig page would have been useful with just Chloe and the actress, Michasa. Cheers. —Ka'lel 22:26, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Ah, excellent. I wasn't aware it was on Joe's blog. I've moved the Walker (Senator) page to Armstrong seeing as he doesn't have a first name as of yet, and if you want then you can feel free to create the Armstrong (disambiguation) page for Chloe and the actress. :) —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 22:29, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Advice Edit

A little advice from one Wikia admin to another. All over this wiki the same few grammar errors are made consistently. It is when you are trying to make a word that ends in an "s" possessive. It is consistently wrong all over the place. For example, when you have Atlantis', you are supposed to have Atlantis's. This is a a very common mistake. The key is that you always add 's to the word if it is singular, no matter what the last letter in the word is.—Matt (talk) 12:19, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

We actually try to follow the Wookieepedia on this one, as some research was done to prove that there's no solid proof that either is wrong. Depending on where you learned English, both of them can be correct. So just because you learned that it was that way, that's not necessarily true for the rest of the world. As such, we try not to force what is both proper and incorrect grammar on people. If you want to correct them, then feel free. But if not, or if they get reverted, then I will not class it as vandalism or incorrect grammar even though I personally do it the same way as you. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 13:27, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Actually it is still incorrect. I saw nothing more than opinion in the provided links. I'll give an example. Say this out loud: "I am going to Anubis' Ship." Anyone can clearly tell that this is incorrect. Anubis Ship doesn't even remotely sound right. It should be: "I am going to Anubis's Ship." I made it a point to inquire about this to my English professor. The issue is debated yes. But in most professional circles it is preferred to use the way that I have laid out here.—Matt (talk) 02:18, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
For the record, I live in the United States and I've always learned it to be Anubis' ship. But as was said above, it does not matter.—Anubis 10545 07:25, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
For the record, the Wookiepedia policy is to have no policy. And it is very clear here that the defacto standard on this wiki is to never include the possessive 's'. This is incorrect. Grammatical correctness aside, it is incorrect because that is not how it is used on the shows. I recently went through all of the SGA and SG-1 episodes. Predominately it is Altantis's, Apophis's, Anubis's. There were cases of the other way with certain other things. In particular President Hayes was Hayes'.—Matt (talk) 10:19, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Page move Edit

Hi, I was wondering if you could do a little change on the sidebar concerning the Universe episodes. Recently I moved the article "Water" to "Water (episode)" to create an article about, well water. I just want this to be moved on the sidebar. Thanks. -- Matthew R Dunn 11:39, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Janet Edit Edit

For some reason, the new image for the Janet Fraiser article doesn't show up for the regular 250px size. I realize the reasons for your edit, but it renders the superior image inert... --JemHadar359 22:39, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that happens sometimes. You just have to leave it and the Wikia servers will catch up and display the new image. Otherwise, although it's not very obvious, you're actually stretching the infobox slightly. The server usually updates in a maximum of 48 hours though, so if it's still not fixed by that time then I'll go to a Wikia staff member about it. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 22:42, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I knew I was very slightly stretching the infobox. So... thanks for your response and see you around the wiki... --JemHadar359 22:21, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
The image still hasn't settled in... --JemHadar359 04:51, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Protecting Daniel Jackson Edit

I'm not sure if this warrants enough attention, but over the past two weeks, certain IP addresses keep removing the section about the audiobook from the Daniel Jackson article. I'm asking if the page should be protected to prevent this in the future. Thanks. -- Matthew R Dunn 15:01, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

High Councillor spelling error, supposed to be: High Councilor Edit

I have not the clue how to fix an error like this, maybe a bot is necessary to auto replace. The term 'High Councillor' is spelled wrong, I believe. The correct spelling is 'High Councilor'. There is a page with this term and many, many links throughout the wiki. I am asking if you could teach me to fix a problem of this nature or if you do not have the time, take care of it yourself. Thank you! Shantiousr 21:34, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

I've went ahead and changed it to High Counselor seeing as it's spelled that way in the screenplay for The Broca Divide and the title isn't actually mentioned by name in any of the Asuran episodes. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 21:54, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, you are extremely quick! Keep up the good work and I will keep doing the little bit I try to do. Shantiousr 21:59, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

about this edit Edit

in the movie, ra clearly does not speak english, only egyptian, and only daniel jackson speaks ancient egyptian. so ra did not interrogate anyone. second, i beleive the jackal headed guard is called "anubis" in the credits/ third, in the ultimate edition DVD, in the note Emmerich does call the ships "wing gliders". and fourth, the concept of first p[rime was created by SG1, and has never appeared in the movie

Hello Edit

Hi Jaymach -- I stopped back by the wiki today and it really looks great! I just wanted to say hi again and remind you guys that if you ever have questions or we can do anything to help with the wiki, especially with Universe coming out this fall, please feel free to drop me a line on my talk page :). -- Wendy (talk) 01:10, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey Jaymach, Not to bombard you with too much Wikia love, but my name's Karim and I'm on the Wikia Entertainment team. I wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I've been checking out this wiki and am lovin it!!! I've been a fan of Stargate since the original movie, but have admittedly dropped off since Atlantis. I've had a lot of fun reading up on the spin-offs I've missed. This place is seriously an awesome resource. You guys should really be proud. I'm getting amped for Stargate Universe too. I'll be enjoying DVD marathons while I wait for the new series to start. Btw, other than SG-1, what's your favorite series? Anyways, just wanted to say hi and let you know that i'm available if you have any questions, or need our assistance in any way. Thanks again, -- Karim@fandom (talk) 22:30, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

IRC Edit

Jaymach, can you update MediaWiki:Irc-url to use This way the irc link inside your sidebar will point to your wiki's actual channel instead of #wikia. ~ NOTASTAFF Dantman(Talk) 01:49, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Took care of it.—Anubis 10545 02:07, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Stargate timeline Edit

Thank you for sorting out the Stargate hyperlink problems out in the timeline section. I was going to sort them out after work today, but you've saved me a job. Although, i dont know why the hyperlinks went a little kaka in the first place, when i moved the text into the table?!?!?!

Anyway i was the one that did alot of work on the "Before 19th Century" about a year ago, under the name jeffrey123450, but work and uni took over my life. But seeing i have my life back, i decided to get going on the Stargate timeline again, with the new user name "Stargate TL1" (Stargate Time Liner One).

anyway, any problems I miss in the future please let me know.

Hey Jaymach -- I was just wondering if it would be ok to make a couple of tweaks to the mainpage, or if you would make them...

The first is if you guys would be ok with removing the big "Wikia's Sci-Fi Wikis" box at the bottom? It turns out that too many links on a frontpage actually hurts the wiki from a search-engine result standpoint and those are rarely clicked anyhow so removing them is an easy way to "focus" the page a little bit better without removing any wiki content at all. The entertainment group has been asking wikis to remove them when we see them at this point.

My other question was about the Current Events -- since Atlantis is moving into movies at a date TBA and no longer airing new episodes, but Universe is coming out this fall, could we swap the positions on the two? Just because it's more "Current" at the moment... -- Wendy (talk) 00:12, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

I went ahead and took care of those...—Anubis 10545 04:51, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Cool - Thanks! -- Wendy (talk) 19:16, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Sam Edit

Isn't there a more permanent way to ban him? Why are we being so lenient when he is repeatedly and knowingly breaking the rules around here? —Ka'lel (talk) (Contribs) 05:04, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately to ban him completely we'd have to ban most of Sweden, which is something I don't want to do. If he continues to come back, however, then it will be something I consider doing. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 17:53, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
He's currently under the name Destinycity. Cheers. —Ka'lel (talk) (Contribs) 18:43, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
I already banned that one last night. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 21:25, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I'm Shawn, from Wikia Entertainment. I've been taking a look around the wiki and I really like what the community has accomplished so far. This wiki has a lot of potential, too and I want to lend a hand by doing a bit of work to the main page that will help out with navigation and make the wiki a bit more accessible for new users. I'll be playing around with some stuff in a sandbox page and will let all the admins here check it out when I'm done, and you can give me feedback on it. I'm leaving this message with all the other admins so everyone will know what's going on as it happens. Thanks! Shawn (talk) 03:58, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I wanted to leave an update with you and the other admins, I've finished a mockup of a new main page layout that features an image-based portal in greater prominence. Please take a look at it here and let me know what you think! I'd like to hear your feedback. Thanks! Shawn (talk) 17:09, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Race Edit

On the article Hale you reverted the Race back to Kelownan from Langaran.

I believe this is incorrect. While his Nationality may be Kelownan, Race is very different. Infact i thought about putting "Tau'ri" there because Kelownan is not a race but a Nationality.

Also you removed the category link to Langaran, yet you kept the 9 others intact. I am confused by this, and i see no harm in linking him to both categories, because he is Kelownan AND Langaran. --Jenkins08 (talk) (Contribs) 15:56, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

The category thing is very simple; Kelownan is a subcategory of Langaran. We do not link to both things when one subcat is in another. Otherwise, we'd have to put every Kelownan in Category:Kelownans, Category:Langarans, Category:Milky Way Humans, Category:Humans, and Category:Individuals. Pages only get put in the lowest category in the list. As for the race thing, the Stargate SG-1: The DVD Collection magazines give Kelownan, etc as a race rather than simply a nationality. While you may disagree with that, the magazines are officially published sources which mean we go with them. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 16:10, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
I understand that you rely on Sources to post articles here, but that means something like the Race listed on the article Jack_O'Neill and many others should not be "Tau'ri" but "American". Since American is an in-universe race as you put it. Do you see my point? --Jenkins08 (talk) (Contribs) 16:15, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
If American was indeed given as the race of a person in an official source, then we would change every American article to say race=American rather than race=Tau'ri. As it hasn't done so far, we still keep it as Tau'ri. Kelownan, however, has been given as a race so we use that. Same with the different Simarkan tribes. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 16:18, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Haha i like the fact that you dictate the content of this Wiki based on printed media. Many times i have read that these "official sources" have got it wrong. Anyways there is a Hierarchy to this that i believe you are missing the point, it goes Species > Race > Nationality. The Simarkan Tribes you link to have "Species" listed but not race. See Here. They are 2 different things. I Am of the Human species, of the Caucasian race, and my nationality is Australian, Australian is not a race it is a Nationality. I know there are certain sources that you like to adhere to, but what if as mentioned above, they got it wrong? --Jenkins08 (talk) (Contribs) 16:28, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
They got it wrong according to how Earth works. You're ignoring the fact that it's entirely possible that, on other planets, people have evolved slightly differently depending on where they come from. For all we know, all Kelownans could have webbed feet whereas Andari don't. Just because it hasn't worked that way on Earth doesn't mean it can't elsewhere (though admittedly that kind of evolution should really take a long time, again that's using our understanding of the real world rather than the Stargate 'verse). As such, we go with whatever official sources say and don't try to disprove them just because that's not how it works in the real world. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 16:34, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok that is a good point but i am not ignoring the fact they may have evolved differently, even though that is not in any official sources or in the show itself. I believe that the only person/s who could answer this properly and informatively would be either Brad Wright, Peter DeLuise or Joseph Mallozzi (The writers). Do any of those 3 people write the official sources that you refer to? (Stargate SG-1: The DVD Collection). If not then my statement may hold some truth. Also unrelated, thanks for the clean-up of the Kathleen Ritter page, I was unaware of the Info box template you changed it to. :) --Jenkins08 (talk) (Contribs) 16:46, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Those writers do not for the magazine, but each one goes to MGM for approval. As these are the people who are actually in charge of the Stargate 'verse (despite some people thinking the writers outrank them) the magazines are completely official. Thus, they go above any fan's opinions (either yours or mine) and we'll always use them on this wiki. While I do understand where you're coming from, and if official sources hadn't used the term as a race then I'd feel the same way as you, I'm afraid we have no proof that Kelownan is not race; the only evidence we have is that it is. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 17:03, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Ok gotcha, thanks for the info. Glad we had this little chat :) --Jenkins08 (talk) (Contribs) 17:10, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Welcoming New Contributors Edit

When this new bot was introduced to the wiki(s), I remember it coming with a list of instructions for its use, including the option to turn off welcomes. I'd like to ask we turn off the welcomes for unregistered contributors. The edits clog up the recent changes page and I don't like that we're extending a welcome hand/message to the vandals and people who make edits (incorrect or correct) once or twice and never return. Welcoming the people who take the time to make an account is enough, as these are the people who are likely to stick around and make valuable contributions to the wiki. Usually...
Cheers. —Ka'lel (talk) (Contribs) 03:00, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Well speaking as someone who once was an unregistered user and only registered because he was welcomed and shown what to do some four or five years ago now, I have to say that I'd rather not turn the feature off. What I would like to do, at some point in the future, is change the welcome message being sent to unregistered users giving them better instructions on how to edit and how to register. While it may very well welcome one or two vandal accounts, it will welcome tens of actual contributors for every vandal it will welcome. The only thing I would like to do with it is get Wikia to mark it as a bot so that it doesn't automatically show up in the recent changes list. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 03:10, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Strange edit on the article "Human" Edit

Hey Jaymach i was just reading the Recently changed list and something peculiar has been removed from the page Human.

See Here, Then way back Here.

I'm not sure if the content was removed due to irrelevancy or due to the user vandalising the page for reasons such as religion. Seems to be the one and only edit of This person. Cheers --Jenkins08 (talk) (Contribs) 21:36, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Books Edit

Hey Jaymach, I was wondering, do you have all the Stargate novels? And are there any further plans on adding information from the novels? I have done a couple like Dalera and the Exogenesis device, might do somemore when I can from the few novels I possess though I would appreciate it if you could have a look at them and see that I put the correct information in. —Darth Batrus (talk) (Contribs) 16:24, September 16, 2009 (UTC)

I do indeed have all the Stargate novels, even the ones in foreign languages that I can't understand. :P The only reason I have trouble adding information from them is...I just don't have enough time lately. My job now takes up a lot more time than it used to so I've had trouble actually finding the time to contribute all that much to this wiki. Hopefully I'll get into a better balance sometime soon, but for now I'm unable to do much about it. The work you've done so far has been excellent though...I've checked it as it was added and have tried to fix any problems I found. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 19:05, September 16, 2009 (UTC)
Cool thanks on the help there :) and yeah I understand, things have been hectic for me as well which is why I haven't been able to contribute much recently. I think my only concern in the ones I have added is the Dalera's weapon one which I could not understand entirely. I know in the novel Dalera had a weapon that made use of a Wraith Queen but i was just confused on what it actually did. When I wrote it, I added what I understood but was unsure on purpose so the article really doesn't explain what it does. Any chance you know remember anything about the function of the device that I missed? Anyway thanks for the reply mate, I think you have been doing a great job on this wiki. —Darth Batrus (talk) (Contribs) 14:03, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

Italic titles Edit

Why do you add them?

Lantean vs. Ancient TitlesEdit

Why do you use "lantean" in reference to everything that is ancient. For example the ship designer is lantean! really that is wrong because the ancients move to the lantean solar system during there last stand against the wraith and way before that they were building city ships and battleship to fight the wraith. --Backlash23 (talk) (Contribs) 15:53, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

I'm sending the message above to you because i see your name that edits most of the pages in the wikia.--Backlash23 (talk) (Contribs) 16:13, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

I changed them because, at the time of creating those ships, they were known as the Lanteans. We have absolutely no evidence that they used the ships while they were in the Milky Way galaxy and known as the Ancients. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 17:30, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

so by what your saying is that they should be call lanteans, eventhough all the humanoid races and other races in the stargate/stargate atlantis series called them ancients.--Backlash23 (talk) (Contribs) 05:22, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

i admitt your right about one thing that the people from the lantean solar system would be call "Lanteans"--Backlash23 (talk) (Contribs) 05:26, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

Deleted comment Edit

I would have appreciated a response rather than deleting my comment altogether. MolocKal'el T | C - 20:59, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

If you hadn't wanted it deleted then you shouldn't have put the template asking for it to be deleted on the talk page. Because it was on there, I responded in the deletion comment. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 21:33, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
Alright, I'll put it on the correct page for it to be deleted, sorry about the confusion. MolocKal'el T | C - 21:43, October 7, 2009 (UTC)
I don't understand your logic. There are plenty of other ways for a person to get to Camile Wray's character page. Camille is not her name. If you want us to cater to the chance that someone will misspell a name, why don't we have a Camille Ray page? Teyla Emagan, Tamara Johanson, Jon Shepherd, Daneil Jackson, Ronin Dex, Micheal Kenmore, Tilk. Where does it end? If a reasonably intelligent person misspells something, they will look for the correct spelling or find another way to get there. MolocKal'el T | C - 02:06, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
You can create any and all of those pages if you think they'll help people. The reason we have them is because, if you try to search for misspelled names using Wikia's search feature, you get nothing unless there's a redirect page. Try searching for Camile Ray using the box in the top left. I'd prefer to make this site usable and allow people to find the proper pages rather than them assuming we don't have a page about the person and then having to delete it later. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 13:19, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
I know what happens when you misspell something in the search bar. I've done it. My next steps went something like this: Try a different spelling and/or find another way to get to the page; which is - as I wrote above - what anyone half-interested in actually finding the page would do. With absolutely reasonable and minimal effort, I find myself at the page I was trying to reach. On another note, did you actually try typing Camile Ray in the search bar? As long as you start correctly, it offers suggestions on what you might be looking for. At "Cam", her name is on the list and by "Cami", it's narrowed down to one result. I'd also like to point out that not one single other wiki does what you are proposing. MolocKal'el T | C - 17:00, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
Actually, most of the wiki's I go to include spelling errors as redirects...I find that to be the point of redirects. Try searching for Jason Solo on the Wookieepedia, for example. As to the drop-down box, yes I use that myself too...however, a lot of people don't have javascript turned on and so that never activates for them. As for simply searching for other spellings, you're right, most people will indeed simply look under another name. Other people, however, will create the page under their misspelled name and then I'd just be either deleting it or turning that page into a redirect. So instead of giving myself extra work, I just leave the redirects in place seeing as they don't do anyone any harm and instead make it quicker to find people when you don't know how to spell their names. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 19:40, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
Well that makes sense, but only if those pages are created because people consistently misspell the name in the same way, as would be the case for Camille Wray, but not for when people accidentally press the wrong key or get the name obscenely wrong, for instance there's no Luke Skywaljer page on Wookieepedia. And then deleting that page if someone creates it would tell people "hold on, this has been deleted before". But creating a redirect out of that misspelling isn't harmless, as it can (and has) invited people to link to the redirect page and put their misspellings in articles. That creates the extra work of having to go and fix them all. It also makes finding instances of the misspellings harder. For example, typing "Ronan" gets you to the Ronan page, so to find misspellings we have to do a blank search and then type "Ronan" in one of the search boxes on the blank page. (I just discovered this).
Anyways, this point/discussion is probably moot. I went to the central wikia hub and asked about adding a "did you mean..." function to searches and it seems they might include that feature in a later update, solving our problem altogether. Unfortunately, the next update, while it does improve the search greatly, won't include that feature. And by the way, if deleting pages is so much extra work you could always add some new admins to the roster so it doesn't all fall on you and Anubis. Cheers MolocKal'el T | C - 21:04, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

intewiki link with Edit

I am the admin of the french version of the Stargate Wiki. Is it possible please to add interwiki link to the french version on your interwiki table? Thanks a lot. --LIMAFOX76 (talk) (Contribs) 18:34, November 18, 2009 (UTC)

I'm afraid you'd actually have to talk to Wikia staff about that. Sadly, it's not something I can do myself. I'll try to get in touch with them for you but if you don't hear back from me then please try getting in touch with one of them over on the Central Wikia site.

Stargate Universe Press Pack Edit

Hello, iv added the Stargate Universe Press Kit to wikia. its not finished, but iv made a start. ill have to double check, but i think the DVDs include deleted/extended scenes, not showed in the original airing. feel free to make edit anythin --Stargate TL1 (talk) (Contribs) 22:46, November 18, 2009 (UTC)

Administrator Rights Edit

Hey Jaymach, I'd like to request admin rights for the wiki. I entered my name on the SGCommand:Administration page back in December around the time that some user accounts were being cleared, but I'm not sure if you took notice. I've also hinted that I'm interested in the past, but I figured I'd man-up and officially ask you. I think I've proven that I'm here to stay and that I make positive contributions to the wiki. As Anubis commented on my talk page, it really is only the two of you who have administrative powers and actively contribute around here and by adding me to the roster, I can handle my own admin-related edits rather than asking one of you two to help me out. Thanks for the consideration. MolocKal'el T | C - 07:04, November 22, 2009 (UTC)

So, Jaymach... hello. About Ka'lel's request above, it would really benefit this wiki (and myself :) if you gave him/her administrative rights. Ka'lel's user status is always getting in his way (such as with this image categorizing project he's doing)... and he's always requesting that I use my admin powers to do something that he\she easily could have done him/herself given these rights. Please take this under advisement... some more :) Thanks.—Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 22:54, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you; I was actually on holiday in America and so unable to edit very much at all. Now that I'm back, I'm more than happy to give you admin rights at least on a temporary basis (that's how I always do it, then I just leave them be if there's no problem). The reason I hadn't given you them back in December was that I didn't really know you well enough at the time. Now that I've seen how much you contribute, I see no problem with it. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 02:56, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Jaymach. I'll make good use of it. Cheers. MolocKal'el T | C - 05:45, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Wanted pages Edit

Howdy i'm going to leave this message with Anubis, Ka'lel and Matthew aswell, i made a list of Special:WantedPages that doesn't include the automated (episode) pages.. just something to do if your thinking "hmm not much to edit" LOL yeah right i know, just a thought :). Here's the page User:Jenkins08/wantedpages User:Jenkins08/sig - - 10:52, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

Page for everything Edit

"the reason for this wiki is to have individual pages on everything" -- I find that hard to believe and i also haven't seen that written anywhere in SGCommand:Manual_of_Style or Help:Editing or Help:Contents. I felt the articles such as Curia could be merged into one article Tollan government because there isn't that much info overall. In my opinion it's better to have a medium amount of information in the one place rather than tiny bits of information scattered around like leaves. User:Jenkins08/sig - - 02:55, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

Stubs Edit

When is an article not a stub? What qualifies them to be stubs and not stubs? I was under the impression a stub was a short page with not much information..... Also i didn't add that other info on P2A-870 even though it is incorrect. User:Jenkins08/sig - - 04:47, December 6, 2009 (UTC)

"Stub:A page providing only minimal information and intended for later development."
An article is a stub by that definition. Although here, some people erroneously include the stub template on pages on which no more info can be added as the subject was only briefly mentioned in only a few instances. Like on our Jello article. It was only briefly mentioned a few times and not much more info can be included. But, the template is there anyway... (not that it's supposed to be. You can remove it if you'd like.) Although I suppose that if we wanted to, we could jam an extra sentence or two into that particular article. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 05:19, December 6, 2009 (UTC)

Canon's ring Edit

Please understand as it is not the same ring, as one shoots lighting while the other heals wounds (Canon's is already at SGC). It is just a prop reuse like many things in stargate such as the wraiths stun staffs. 14:35, February 10, 2010 (UTC)

We have no proof that it's not the same technology, and until we do we have to go with the only evidence we have; as they look the same, they are the same. Please do not revert my edits again, though you are free to write up a behind the scenes section stating that they may be different. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 08:19, February 9, 2010 (UTC)
  • You are wrong ask a mod or admin. the ring used by Canon was never shown to heal and the ring used by vala was never sown to summon/direct lighting, it was a prop reuse just like the wraith spear gun was used by the Bedrosian's in the episode New Ground. ~ Awar 14:35, February 10, 2010 (UTC)
    • By the way the rule to my understanding is that if a prop reuse is shown but is not used like Zats to assume it may work the same as the other's in previous episodes, however if a device is shown to look the same but preform different function/'s such as a Zat like device that summon ring transporters, to give them their own seperate article pages, with a foot notes to the related pages. I besech you to ask another moderator or admin on the matter then we will see which of us is correct stopping futher edit fights on the related pages Goa'uld healing device & Canon's ring. ~ Awar 14:35, February 10, 2010 (UTC)
      • If Cannons ring article is to remain the same please do not change the article on the Goa'uld healing device page as I belive that a refrance to the ablitys of Vala's ring is warrented! ~ Awar 14:35, February 10, 2010 (UTC)
As I've said, we've no proof that it's not the same. The only evidence we have (visual) suggest that it is the same device which either has an additional purpose or a purpose the canon's ring in "Demons" was not shown to possess. As I've explained multiple times throughout this site, we do not assume anything. That's why we state on pages, such as the Canon's ring and the Serrakin pistol, that reuses of the prop are the same item unless we get a new name for the other device. It's not a matter of personal choice, because I'd much rather have tons of different technology pages, but it's simply a matter of not assuming anything. If a kara kesh can emit a shield, send out a blast wave, create a wave of energy that damages the brain, control ring transporters, in some cases emit lightning and in other cloak the being wielding it then I see no reason that a simple ring can't both heal and control an AZP, however. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 18:16, February 10, 2010 (UTC)
  • Even if that is true, that dose not change the fact that.
  1. It is never seen or metioned to do multiple things, unlike the kara kesh which has been seen to do the above mentioned things in many episodes. You are asumming right there that they both work the same, but it is never confirmed anywhere that is an assumption.
  2. Vala's ring has a right to be mentioned on the Goa'uld healing device page as they preform very similar if not the same function.
I'm perfectly fine with linking to the Canon's ring on the Goa'uld healing device page, but what you did was copy the information from one article to another which is not okay. Also, what evidence do you have that they're not the same? The only evidence we have is visual, which shows the exact same thing performing different functions. Would we create a page for "kara kesh (shield)" just because Apophis had one that created a shield whereas other Goa'uld didn't? No. It looks the same, so we say it's the same. This is the same situation. Until proven to be different, we go with the only evidence we have. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 17:31, February 11, 2010 (UTC)
  1. They where proven to be different, by not being shown to do the same things but seperate actions, unlike the kara kesh page which says that not all kara kesh work alike. (What you are doing is assuming that dispite being shown them preforming different actions, That it is the same ring.)
  2. I would like to say that I reworded some of the text I copyed and pasted.
  3. I was not talking about a link but an actual sub-article on the Goa'uld healing device.
If you're talking about creating a subsection on the Goa'uld healing device page then I'm not okay with it. As we already have a page for the Canon's ring, a link is sufficient. And, as I've said before, they look the same therefore they are the same until we have any evidence suggesting otherwise. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 11:33, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

Transcripts offical? Edit

Hi, A quick question, I made an edit to the 304 page, using an episode transcript as (the main) proof of my claim (you may read the discussion page) and you reverted my edits. So I would like to known if you consider transcripts official sources of information? Can they be used as official proof? --Uriel718 (talk) (Contribs) 20:48, February 16, 2010 (UTC)

The official transcripts (which were once on the MGM site, but seem to be taken down now) can be used as official proof. These only covered the ten seasons of Stargate SG-1 and the first three seasons (mostly) of Stargate: Atlantis. If you need any then I have saved copies and am more than happy to send them. That having been said, the edit to the 304 page was reverted because it's only a 304 in an alternate reality which has the modification, which was already noted on that page. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 22:51, February 16, 2010 (UTC)
So the transcripts that Gateworld has, are Fan created? Good to know. As for the 304 page, I am aware that the Phoenix had an Asgard core in the episode The Last Man, and that this happend in an alternate timeline, but that was not what I was reffering to. The evidence I had were the episodes Search and Rescue, and The Lost tribe. In which we, at the very least see an Asgard computer core console, on board the Deadalus. I have added a snapshot to the discussion page. --Uriel718 (talk) (Contribs) 09:23, February 17, 2010 (UTC)

Earth address Edit

Glyphs was resized and they do not break the infobox size! Mine infobox is just fine Vilnisr (talk) (Contribs) 15:20, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

It breaks it on the Earth page. They stretch it enough that the outline disappears and the text goes behind the infobox. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 15:22, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

I try to upload svg, but it do not appear, maybe you know why, or maybe you can convert to svg Vilnisr (talk) (Contribs) 16:00, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Drones Edit

I noticed that the edit I made drones page was removed. I am curious as to why.

It was purely speculative information... nothing was shown on the show to hint at such an occurrence. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 03:33, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

I said it was possible. During part one of The Siege Weir mentions weapons designs when she is discussing what data in the Ancient Database to keep on the hard drive the Tau'ri brought from Earth. I was just stating that their is the possibility that the Tau'ri could possibly produce drones in the future. Of course it is speculative, though it is based on what has been cannonical information.

I know, but that's also like saying that, one day, the Tau'ri could create a city-ship like Atlantis or build a Stargate themselves from scratch. It just doesn't really bear any significance... especially because the Tau'ri have expressed really no desire to do so. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 07:01, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

I really didn't think about that.

Wait, what if they wanted to restock Atlantis' drone supply?

Well, then it sucks to be them... lol :). As they did in "The Tower", they would have to take them from somewhere else. I mean, I'm sure they've researched into making new drones... although it hasn't really been shown on the show. Although in the episode "Harmony", Mckay stated how he had been reading about looking for the location where the Ancients first invented drone weapons. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 04:39, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

I remember.

Hey Jaymach... I know the issues with the DVD magazines is a really annoying and persistent topic. But, where do we draw the line between info that we include from the magazines and don't include? I mean, naturally a wraith cruiser doesn't carry 20 Hive Ships (as is stated by the Magazines) but on the same magazine page it also says how they have energy shields and are upwards of 2000 meters in length. Naturally, we don't include the 20 Hive ships as a cruiser's complement because it logically (and as per the dialogue on the show) doesn't make sense... but then how can we trust anything else on that magazie page. With Ori Ships and the SUpergate, a size discrepancy occurs also (and, as per the show, Ori ships are smaller than the supergate... opposed to the info stated in the magazines). So, as this is the case, and to stop all of the constant "bickering", wouldn't it make more sense to just throw out the conflicting info and leave the fields for such topics as the supergate's size blank?... and then put the size discrepancies in a "behind the scenes section". —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 06:47, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

As the bickering over the magazines has now led to vandalism, I am putting a new system into place regarding them. People don't have to accept them in their own minds, but we have absolutely no right to choose what is canon and what is not for the site. Any officially licensed material both can and will be used as a source on the Stargate wiki. As such, any information that is included in the magazines will be included in our pages. If this causes problems with existing canon, then users are free to add a "Behind the scenes" section to the relevant pages. What I will not accept is bickering on talk pages, vandalism on actual pages, or insults thrown at the magazines. As such, I am implementing a strike system. While most have 3, I am only using 2. On the first incident of this occurring, you will be warned. On the second, you will be banned for the period of 3 months. If this is to happen again, then the ban will either be extended or made permanent. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 15:02, April 22, 2010 (UTC)
Jaymach, you chose to accept the magazines as canon when you joined this site. You even wrote "Is striving to get all licensed material made canon" as your goal for the wiki, so some part of you knows (or did know back then) that just because something is licensed, does not mean it is canon. Take for instance, Stargate: Infinity, also licensed material but not considered canon, and not simply because Brad Wright doesn't consider it canon, most didn't before he said anything. I've read the old forum posts from before you became bureaucrat and you had opposition even then. To be honest, I don't know if there's anyone that agrees with you. Either before you became bureaucrat or as a direct result of it, the magazines are considered canon on the wiki and I tolerate that, but it most definitely is/was a choice, and from as far as I can tell, it was yours alone. Obviously vandalism should not be tolerated, but I do not see what has occurred on the talk pages (this one included) as "bickering", as it implies this isn't important. Besides that, it seems everyone is on the same side of this argument/debate. I see nothing wrong with talking about these issues on a talk page, especially if it helps bring errors to light. I don't know, maybe because you've had to defend these magazines so often, you seem to be now taking this as a personal insult. MolocKal'el T | C - 18:21, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

um, what? i cited everything that was from the magazine on that page. i would love to be enlightened as to how properly referencing sources is vandalism. if so, i sincerely apologize for giving the majority of information on that page (which had gone unsourced for over eight months) a source which you consider canon. ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 19:05, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Referencing them as "crap34" is considered vandalism, plain and simple. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 21:26, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

hive shipEdit

please move Hive Ship to hive ship per the magazine unless there's higher sources that capitalize both words. if we're using those things as sources for now we should at least be consistent. ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 04:31, April 26, 2010 (UTC)

Screenplays Edit

is there a place where i can view the screenplays of the episodes?Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 02:41, August 3, 2010 (UTC)

You used to be able to download them in pdf form from the official MGM website, but they have since been taken off when MGM did the redesign. Luckily, I managed to save any that were there at that time so I now have them on my hard drives. If you need any uploaded then I'm more than happy to do so. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 16:30, August 3, 2010 (UTC)

yes but since when does the show come second to anything else? Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 01:13, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Since when did the Trading card game become canon. A scotsman (talk) (Contribs) 01:56, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Well considering that fans made up the name "plague" then we go with any official name over it. Ancient contagion, so far, is the only official name I can find. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 16:54, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Well in the show it is called a 'plague' so unless you can come up with a reson that it shouldn't be called Plague i am going to change it. A scotsman (talk) (Contribs) 19:34, August 23, 2010 (UTC)
It's called a plague because that's what it is: a plague. That doesn't mean it doesn't have an official name. The Ori plague was a plague. The caveman virus could have been a plague. Etc, etc. It's called a common noun. — Trust not the Penguin (T | C) 19:52, August 23, 2010 (UTC)

Hello Jayach - why is the 304 called warship not battlecruser? what the is source for thiss? - CJ

2 things: as the guy above me asked, where was the "warship' thing mentioned? and you also mentioned having the screenplays for several episodes you got from the mgm site. would you be able to send them to me? Escyos (talk) (Contribs) 06:36, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

The "warship" designation comes from Stargate SG-1/Atlantis: The Official Magazine 9. And yes, I do have digital copies of the screenplays for every episode of SG-1 and most of Atlantis but I'm afraid I can't send all of them as my connection is, quite simply, terrible. I can send random ones as and when you need them, however. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 21:49, October 5, 2010 (UTC)

Character names Edit

A Character's name is usually presented with the name they're most commonly refered to, especially when they have a nickname. Jonathan J. O'Neill should be renamed Jack O'Neill, and although he has been credited twice as Jonathan "Jack" O'Neill, he has never been called Jonathan or John. Norman Walter Davis Harriman should be named Walter Harriman because it is his official name. Meredith Rodney McKay should be renamed Rodney McKay. It's odd that there are problems such as these. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) (Contribs) 09:33, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Isnt it their full names and thats why they are there. Togggggl (talk) (Contribs) 10:18, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Simply the answer is no. It's supposed be the name most used, like the above already says. Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) (Contribs) 14:04, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
Actually, our policy is that the character's full name, regardless of how often it's used, is what we have the characters article at. I personally don't care what other places (such as Wikipedia) would do. I come from the Wookieepedia myself, which is one of the most successful wikis based on a fandom, and choose to follow the way they do things. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 14:34, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
That may be, but they're two seperate wikis and franchises. Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) (Contribs) 18:13, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, but our policy is to use full names wherever they are known. This is the same reasoning used for moving Todd to Guide. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 18:54, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
If you're including every used/seen name then Bill Lee should be changed to "Seymour Bill Lee" because O'Neill called him "Seymour" in Zero Hour. --Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) (Contribs) 19:17, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
Except this was a clear reference to Little Shop of Horrors. That having been said, he's actually called "Doctor Seymour Lee" on the official MGM website here. The only reason I don't move the page is that his name is given as "Bill Lee" in future episodes as well as in the "SG-1" deck of the TCG, and issues 22 and 28 of Stargate SG-1: The DVD Collection. I can only assume you bring this up due to Norman Walter Davis Harriman. This is his full name as given in Stargate SG-1: The Ultimate Visual Guide. We don't use all his names simply because they've been used in different episodes. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 19:35, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
Saying you don't use all the names of Norman Walter Davis Harriman is a contradiction because that's exactly what you use "Norman" and "Davis" were never official within any series and "Walter Harriman" is clearly the de facto name, it's been that name ever since season eight; it's also the link everybody uses because it's his name. --Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) (Contribs) 20:19, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
As I just said in my last comment, his full name of "Norman Walter Davis Harriman" is given in Stargate SG-1: The Ultimate Visual Guide. This is why we use it. Also, he has been called both Norman and Davis in several different episodes. Hence The Ultimate Visual Guide using them in his full name. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 22:36, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
Dorling Kindersley can hardly be considered an official source (for anything), it's more like a fanon guide, cramming all what has been said to cover as much as a possible (for fan reference only, nothing more) even if it conflicts/contradicts with what has been established. Those other names were never finalized by the producers, then again neither was "Walter", but nevertheless for the past few years the name of "Walter Harriman" has been used in each series and has even been used in scripts, such as "200". "Norman" and "Davis" are basically defunct. He apparently even had the name "Hooper" at one point, so you obviously can't include everything you hear and see. --Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) (Contribs) 07:20, January 5, 2011 (UTC)
Actually, The Ultimate Visual Guide was written by Kate Ritter who writes the Stargate Lexicon that the producers and writers themselves use. So I'd consider it to be pretty damn official, regardless of the fact that it's MGM approved. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 08:32, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Creating a new category. Edit

Greetings. I have been thinking about creating a new category for high-definition screencaps. Since the start of HD television, this wiki has been getting several new HD pictures, however there is no category for such photos. I believe it would be convenient to have a seperate category for them, especially since the gallery for all photos does not show which photos are high resolution. I realise that it would be alot of work, however with your permission I would like to start immediately. Also I would like your input for a name, I thought "High-definition images" or "High-resolution images" would be good. Itˈs like "Fair use Images".—Uriel718 (talk) (Contribs) 20:03, April 20, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, but I've been rather busy with other issues. As a user, I'd be perfectly happy with this category as it'd be handy to see any high res images. As an admin, however, I'm going to have to say no I'm afraid. The simple reason is that we currently try to claim we're using the images under the fair use policy which states that we can use lower resolution images to represent things and so technically we shouldn't have high res images on the site at all. While I'm not saying to delete any high res images, I also wouldn't like to push the issue further by collecting them all together in one category. Hope that explanation helps. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 00:29, April 26, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I was afraid there would be a "political" reason why such a category could not be made. Fortunately I asked you before I did anything, would have been a shame if I did all the work for nothing. —Uriel718 (talk) (Contribs) 11:21, April 26, 2011 (UTC)

need help Edit

Hi Jay, I was wondering if you could help me..or not. I'm going to go to an advanced hosting on my forum and I don't have anyone with the skills I need to assist with the techy stuff. If you or if you know someone who'd be willing to help out and take an admin role I'd be so grateful.

Vandal. Edit

I come from the Mass Effect wiki with a warning. Their was a vandal that originated from our wiki(as far as we know) and has done over 500 vandalism edits, he has also moved to atleast eight different wikis including the Call of duty wiki, World of warcraft wiki, and the L.A. Noire wiki. If you see a guy by the name of lancer or spithog98, thats probably him(just so you know this guy mimics other users, there is a real Lancer by the name of Lancer1289, you can contact him here for more information). I am going to stay here and help monitor this wiki until I can determin that he wont come here or he has been stoped.Legionwrex (talk) (Contribs) 23:09, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Jaymach,

Thank you for your kind message. I am a computer dinosaur when it comes up-dating.

bit of data or photo. That probably will be the extent on my contribution.

Are external links ok? Edit

Hey,i have done very little with this wiki because it is hard to find something that needs fixing, and most of my work i have done on this wikia site called Gateworld fleets,a fan made site for Stargate stuff. There are currently few people active on it besides my self, one of my freinds and on occasion the admin,so to get new blood for the site,i was adding things like this to some of these wiki pages-For non cannon Stargate info on such and such click here ,and that would a link to the Homepage of the site or to a specific article, but someone or something kept earasing them, multiple times. Is it ok to add external links to other sites on this wiki, and if not,may i ask why? Gateworld fleets is a legitimate wikia site,(although a vandalist was screwing with it for a while,me and the admin fixed it as far as i currently know)that has come up with explainations for many things that Stargate left unfinished or never worked on,like the Grace aliens for example,on this site are a race called the Adnihilo,as well as many cool technologys and other races and planets ect.Gormagon (talk) (Contribs) 20:48, June 25, 2011 (UTC)

Gormagon, TRP and Me Edit

We(Gormagon vs The Rogue Penguin and Jauh0) are having a bit of a edit skirmish war over Gormagon spamming links to a below average fanfiction site, your judgement is needed on this matter. I and Penguin think that it's wrong because this is a wiki, not the ad-page of a newspaper. Also it's spamming. Jauh0 (talk) (Contribs) 10:55, June 28, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but I've been away for some time now. While you are correct that we don't need those kind of links on every talk page, and it is indeed spamming, I think the way you went about it was somewhat harsh. In future, I'd ask that you try to remain civil and remember that any new editors, even if they don't quite understand the rules, are possible future contributors to the site. I'll be in touch with the user in question but please try to keep this in mind in the future. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 00:52, July 7, 2011 (UTC)

Hey! Edit

I have a question! You never thought to make a second wiki, since there are people who want to have all information - canon and non-canon, and those who wants just information from movies and tv series (canon works) it could be a great idea, something like memory alpha and memory beta for Star Trek, beside there would not be so much work to do. I have started blank page and I think this is a solution that everyone would like. What do you think about that. Vilnisr T | C - 21:21, July 5, 2011 (UTC)

p.s. i am here for some time and i like to be here, but it's a time to move forward and i think this would finish all canon - non-canon wars. Vilnisr T | C - 21:26, July 5, 2011 (UTC)
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to any messages; I've been touring around the country so have had little access to the internet before now and have only been able to check up on vandalism and the like every so often. That having been said, I'm perfectly fine with this idea. If you'd like to start up a wiki free from the novel/roleplaying game/etc. material then I'd happily link to it from our articles. I'm not sure how you'll manage it entirely, but I think it's a perfectly good idea for the people who don't like the other information. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 00:52, July 7, 2011 (UTC)
ok, I have started a wiki - and will start to make an articles and you are welcome to join and help, i also will add some info about non canon materials just for information with links to this wiki, but right now i have a question to you- how dod you put this stargate icon in address row before http? Dump? Edit

Hi Jaymach

My question to you is:

Is it possible to get a dump of the wiki ? Of course only the content concerning stargate so that i can use it in WikiTaxi?

I ask this because working as a sailor i often have 2-3 weeks with no internet where i tend to watch the stargate franchice and i often would like to read something about a random subject occuring in a episode. I know it has been possible before because i had a copy of it from the Specil:Export page about 6 months ago but now it appears that Wikia has changed something

Stargate Roleplay Edit

Natoalaska 8/15/2011

Give me some leeway, pleaseEdit

I'm currently making a mess out of Russian stereotypes on the show. Check the Discussion page for the AK-47. Posts from February 16, July 24, and today's (September 1) are all mine, just in case you're wondering who can't stop editing. Also, check the new picture description on Moscow page. So, what is the basis for your objections? 11:56, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

My only objection is that we do not use real world information on this wiki, it is purely for information which comes from officially licensed Stargate sources. Thus, if it not in a Stargate source, it should simply be on Wikipedia. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 14:31, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

Help upoading images (Pease don't break the page this time)Edit

I'm having difficulties adding some screen caps I took to the show categories. I don't wanna submit something when it doesn't look right, for fear of breaking the page or something.

Anyways, I uploaded a couple of images I took from the DVD as The Long Goodbye (Atlantis, Season 2) played (the copyrights page said that was okay to do), but I can't seem to edit The Long Goodbye images page to add them. Whenever I click to edit, it comes up with a completely blank page except for the header that says:

A category of images from Stargate: Atlantis' "The Long Goodbye"

I can't even see the current images there on the edit page. Is this normal?

RDAisGod (talk) (Contribs) 00:09, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

A category is very different from an actual page. To add a page to a category, you type on the image pages rather than adding them to the category itself. Hope this makes sense, but if you have any other queries then don't hesitate to get in touch. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 00:22, September 9, 2011 (UTC)

Me again. Heh. I finally managed to get subcategories figured out, and added an image to both new ones Rodney McKay images and Teyla Emmagan images (haven't figured out how to link to the actual subcategory). However, I seem to have made a blank page named Category:Teyla Emmagan images in the process that I can't delete, and it's the one that shows up in the search engine. It's not the same as the subcategory in Atlantis character images. Could you delete that please? Sorry for the trouble

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you; started a new job so haven't been around so much lately. I'm fine with this so long as you can find visual evidence of each name and upload a screenshot. It's not that I don't trust you, it's just that I'd like to have a screenshot that I can point people to if they ask about the move. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 07:15, December 1, 2011 (UTC)

Syfy WebringsEdit

Hey there, My name is Kate and I'm a staff member at Wikia. Since we have so many popular and amazing Syfy wikis on Wikia, we made a Syfy webring that links to all of our Syfy wikis.

Here's what it looks like and we thought we could put it on the mainpage of the wikis listed as a way of "affiliating" with the other ones. Let me know what you think and I'd be happy to put it up!

Novels Edit

Hey Jaymach. I was going about organizing the novel pages and bringing everything up to date (as most of those articles haven't been touched in a while).

But was wondering:

I was on the page Stargate SG-1: Sacrifice Moon and it was listed as following "the enemy within" and preceding "emancipation" in the infobox. I changed it so the infobox instead listed the Books it preceded and followed instead of the episodes it precedes and follows. However, I realized that you reverted a similar edit a while back, which prompted me to write this message).

It's not really a big deal, I was just wondering your take on this before I make a whole mess of bad edits. But For the sake of easier navigation, it seems like it would make more sense to only include the Book names in the infoboxes, and instead, say the episodes they correlate to somewhere else on the articles. -Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 02:42, February 16, 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. I'm afraid that I've just reverted these edits again. The reason I have them there is so that people can tell where they come in the timeline at a glance. Some of them are very hard to place so I have broad "this is what definitely comes before" and "this is what definitely comes after" episodes, but I've tried to be as precise as possible. The main reasoning for this is that, for one, they can view the novel order on the Fandemonium page and, secondly, the books don't really have to be read in any kind of order. Sure, they have numbers on the side of them, but this means very little to anyone actually reading them. I feel it will also help people adding information from the novels to know where to include relevant history information on already existing pages. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 02:59, February 16, 2012 (UTC)
Ah, that makes sense... I'm not really an 'avid' reader of the Stargate novels so I was unclear. Thanks! -Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 07:31, February 16, 2012 (UTC)

Stargate Universe Press Kit Edit

iv got a spear copy of the Stargate Universe Press Kit (ULTRA RARE) which i might be willing to sell at the right price. do you know any Stargate fans who would be interested i this? im asking you, because i would rather a true Stargate fan got this, rather than some random person. iv been down sizing my collection of Stargate things over the last few months. thanks Stargate TL1.

Drop Down MenuEdit

The new drop down menu has a significant amount of less options than the old one did. Are you planning on re-adding the old options to the new one? It was an easy access for anything and everything and disappointedly it's all gone so at the moment it's not much of an improvement. IMHO. -- Anythingspossibleforapossible (talk) (Contribs) 19:24, March 1, 2012 (UTC)

The images are NOT stretched, they are taken from either HD SyFy broadcast or Blu-ray. The low quality is due to the older episodes and the fact that screenshots are always lower quality than the video in motion.

Nav barEdit

So I just enabled Expanded Wiki Navigation... and then I saw that you disabled it a few weeks ago... and then I saw the comment by 'Anythingspossible-' above. Frankly, the expanded navigation feature looks sleeker and contains the same stuff as the previous format. I'm not really sure what his concern was... but either format's fine. I just didn't want to get into a back-and-forth thing... and so I guess I'm leaving this message... Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 08:08, May 21, 2012 (UTC)

Stargate: The Last Stand HL2 Mod Edit

Hi There.

I recently wrote an article about the Halflife2 Stargate The Last Stand Modification on this Wiki that was shortly after deleted by yourself.

I was just wondering what you reason for deleting it was. This is a legitimate Stargate game and although it’s a free game it has been accepted by MGM studio. I am a very keen fan of Stargate and the game really sticks to the cannon of Stargate as much as you would expect from a PC game.

It is quite important to us that this Game gets as much publicity as possible, We are having a push to try and get more players back into the game, with the hope that the devs will go back and update some parts of the game and add new material if we can prove we have a large enough following.

This is a fully functioning game in case you thought that it was just a few screens from an unreleased game.

Thank you for your time

Could you hit me back on my email?

Best Regards 16:55, August 22, 2012 (UTC)Scott Macdonald

Apologies for taking so long to respond to you, but I have had very limited access to the internet over the past month or so. Anyway, the reason I deleted your article is very simple; it is not officially licensed. Although this wiki is set up to attract articles on everything Stargate, we are trying to stick to officially licensed products only. As such, your article would be of more use on the Stargate Fan Productions wiki which is set up for just this kind of thing. Hope that helps. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 10:54, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

Featured article and images Edit

P.S.: Can you make the featured articles and quotes change like the featured images? Portalier (talk) (Contribs) 14:31, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

As stated in the above response, apologies for taking so long to respond. I see that someone has already changed this over, but I will try to keep the featured articles/images more up to date for the future. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 10:54, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I am a B-crat on a roleplay game wiki for the Percy Jackson series, we've also use a lot of Greek myth in general, to fill in bits where Rick left holes, I was wondering if you may like to affiliate with us, as we have Greek myth in common? I realise the Stargate Franchise explained earth mythologies in an entirely different manner, and based on that would understandi f you don't wish to, but we are a fairly active wiki and have a lot of users who are into science fiction and mythology based shows.

BachLynn23 14:00, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. I'm afraid I don't see how the two wikis would be compatible other than the fact that the same pantheon appears in both series. Even the very basis of your wiki, roleplaying, is against what we are trying to do here as we are trying to document facts rather than create them. As such, I'd have to decline your offer. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 10:54, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

Chat module question Edit

Live! Chat

As you can see above You have SGCommand where normally it would say Stargate Wiki (or so I believe). That line used to be editable through a MediaWiki page that has since become obsolete, so when I saw that it has apparently been changed here I hoped you might be able to point me in the direction of how you might change it? I went through Special:AllMessages but couldn't spot which page might refer to it :( Cåm 23:26, September 2, 2012 (UTC)
I'm afraid I'm not sure where to find that, but I'll have a look into it and see if I can discover it somewhere. Thanks for raising the issue. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 10:54, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

Reverting Edit

You've reverted my edits why? They are personel of stargate command like anybody who in an way works there and also why did you changed 304 to BC-304 you should have changed it to DSC-304 why? Stalin!!!Portalier (talk) (Contribs) 15:08, September 14, 2012 (UTC)

I've reverted your edits for a very simple reason. The pages you have been editing have already been categorized under SG-# team members, which itself is a subcategory of SG teams, which is a subcategory of Stargate Command personnel. As such, the pages you have been adding into that category are already in the category you are adding them to. And the reasoning behind the BC-304 move is because that's the only official name we have for the ship, as per the Best-Lock Construction Toys whereas DSC-304 is a completely fan-made name which appears nowhere in officially licensed media/tie-ins. Additionally, we would ask you to refrain from personal attacks as that kind of attitude will result in being banned from editing the wiki. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 10:54, September 15, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, my lord. By the way everytime the main page is refreshed/uploaded it apears an diferent featured image it would nice if the featured articles and quotes would rotate in the same fashion. Portalier (talk) (Contribs) 09:44, September 16, 2012 (UTC)

Story arc categories Edit

I'm not sure if that's where I have to ask, so here goes. I noticed that in several story arc categories (Lucian Alliance, Ori, Ascension to name a few), some episodes were filed under their name and other under their season. Which one should it be? Also, some episodes have such categories:

what does the A stand for? Shouldn't it be the season number? Kedern (talk) (Contribs) 12:26, November 30, 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I'm the administrator of the Stargate wiki in Spain, and I would like us to sign an alliance between our wikis. This agreement would lead to the following conditions:

  • Put a picture of the logo of the Spanish stargate wiki in your home and we would do the same in our wiki.
  • Be able to use your articles and you our articles translated into languages correspodientes

I think this would be beneficial to both wikis and help us both to grow.

DHD Use/Location of Earth Edit

On the page: Forum:Earth's dialing code? you say the location was discovered, however in the original movie it was pointed out that you would need 6 points to locate the destination along with the origin to make the connection, and that those destination points are constelations in the night sky... So later we go to another part of the galaxy, and Daniel finds the tablets with the location of Earth to get back home...

My thought: Surely the same constelations that point to Earth will not be valid in another part of the galaxy as the locational position is the same but the relative view of the constellations are different and therefore the symbols would be different...?

Of course if we think about Stargate Universe and Seed ships, the DHDs are mass produced, so whilst the constellations would be different to the eye of the viewer the actual positions of the new symbols on the DHD could be in the same positions on all DHDs allowing any user of the DHD to correctly locate their destination without need to view the stars in the night sky.

Admin assistance required to rename article Edit

This message was mass-posted to all admins, it is not directed at you in particular. Could one of you move the Gateship article to "Puddle Jumper" (per Talk:Gateship#Name_again). I tried doing it myself but I got an error message, it seams the admin toles are necessary to move this.

Lastly, I apologizes for mass-posting like this, but I didn't know what else to do. The error message directed me to SGCommand:Administration. The Administration page directed me to either make a post on the Community Portal, or to contact an admin directly, but portal doesn't seem to be working (it's little more then an otherwise blank page that says "Under construction"), and I didn't know which specific admin I was supposed to contact. Hi, Jaymach. Just wanted to know is there some rule against adding "From the Season such episode" to photo captions and also adding a full stop at the end. I feel it's essential to the wiki but Typhuss999 strongly disagrees. And could you talk to Typhuss999? Hello, I'm just one of many SGA fans and I must ask - WHY did you decide to rework the whole SG wiki so that it suits the story from the Legacy books??? I've started a project of my own and I need the clean info about the SGA series, NOT the info spiced up with stuff from Legacy books, because then my project may include stuff that never actually happened during the series and I really wouldnt like to reffer to some stuff that was later invented by third parties and cause some potential copyright problems.

PLEASE, if you are making a refference to something that was not in the original series, make an addendum at the bottom of the page, and specify that the data below comes from Legacy books or some other unofficial sources. Thank you!

Hey Jaymach, Hope all is well. I know you're not around so much anymore, but we had a user questioning John Sheppard's birthday, which you originally included in this edit. Aurora pulse weapon and Asuran cruiser pulse weapon Edit

Hey there

I need help renaming the Asuran energy weapon article, as I uploaded evindence of these weapons being on all Aurora ships, not just Asuran variants. I also want to upload a screenshot of the Asuran cruisers energy weapons.

I think the Asuran energy weapon article could be renamed Lantean pulse weapon, like Destiny pulse weapon, as these weapons are very similar. Of course this would mean accepting that the Aurora, and the cruiser both use the same/very similar weapon. Other possible name would be Aurora pulse weapon.
