Matthew Baker was a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force who was assigned to Stargate Command as part of SG-9 during Stargate Command's first year of operation.

When Captain Jonas Hanson made the Avnilians believe he was a god, he played along and became his second in command. When Hanson killed Lt. Thomas Frakes, he burned the body on his order. He was killed by Jamala with Teal'c's Staff weapon. (SG1: "The First Commandment")
