A matter stream between Apophis' mothership and a ha'tak
A matter stream is a stream of matter and information that is created by Transportation rings to safely transfer their occupants. When a set of rings is activated, they send the matter within the rings to the nearest set of rings. If two sets of matter are within the connecting rings, they are essentially "swapped", without any damage to the opposite sets of matter. It is possible to "catch" the matter stream, but this requires exact timing. If any of the matter stream is missed, then part of the matter within the Transportation rings is altered, a potentially fatal fate for living beings.
