"It's been centuries since anyone stood up against me. It's quite exhilarating, actually."
―Mari[src]

Mari was a Goa'uld who lived on Alava. She would bring pleasant weather and good harvests to the Alavans through use of her Touchstone device.

Biography[]

Background information[]

Over the last millennia, she lived in seclusion on the planet Alava, where she brought the Alavans to and hadn't left the planet in decades. She resided deep beneath the Holy mountain above the town of Herri and mostly left the Alavans alone. She rarely left her cave and the few reasons that caused her to, were to use her Touchstone device to create pleasant weather for the Alavans and ensure the planet's bountiful harvests, or if visitors with advanced technology would show up on the planet.

Dr. Freeman's visits[]

At some point, Dr. Avery Freeman and Phoenix-3 visited Alava. This was followed up by another visit from Dr. Freeman and another Phoenix team. Mari became angry at this and created a storm. Her Jaffa attacked the Alavans as well as abducted others that included Dr. Freeman. She had them bound in a semi-circle in her cave, though hadn't decided what to do with them by a Phoenix team came to try to free them. Mari, her Prime, and her other Jaffa fought the Phoenix team. She used her Touchstone during the encounter so she could leap around the area and melee her opponents.

Depending on where the battle was fought Mari's tactics had been; if they battled in the cavern where her prisoners had been kept, Mari ignored the captives and focused on the Phoenix team members. If the team retreated into the tunnels with the captives, she and her Jaffa refused to engage the team until the captives reached the chasm, which is when Mari ordered the attack and split her attention attacking both the team and captives. Outcomes of the Phoenix team Battle[]

Different fates could have befallen Mari from the battle with the Phoenix team:

  • If Mari was injured enough, she dropped her Touchstone device and fled the battle with her Jaffa following after. She returned to her lair, where she expired from her wounds shortly thereafter.
  • Mari could have perished in battle.
  • If the team captured Mari by knocking her unconscious, she was furious. Once she determined that she couldn't escape, she decided that she couldn't survive as a captive and ends her rule over Alava. As she expired, she released toxins that killed her host.
  • If Mari took the team captive, she knocked them out with a Zat'nik'tel and became reinvigorated from the fight. It had been centuries since anyone had stood up to her, so she found herself exhilarated. In gratitude, she released the team alive, though warned if they didn't leave through the Stargate immediately she'd kill them. She decided to use her captives as replacements for the Jaffa the team killed and chose to take a more active role in ruling Alava. She planned to rebuild her armies and return to take her place among the System Lords. (RPG: "The Eyes of the Storm")

Personality[]

Unlike other Goa'uld, Mari had been reclusive and content to live on Alava. She had rarely left the planet, and when she did so it was only to recruit replacement Jaffa warriors.

She was paranoid of advanced technology and would become irate when outsiders brought any to the planet. Her Sarcophagus also stopped working decades ago, which fueled her paranoia. Without the sarcophagus, her Host body had aged, however, she didn't take a new host from the Alavans. Given her seclusion over the last millennia, she was also behind in the technological level of other Goa'uld. (RPG: "The Eyes of the Storm")

Equipment[]

Weapons[]

Other equipment[]

  • Touchstone: Mari would use it ensure good harvests and give pleasant weather to the Alavans. If she was unhappy, she would also use it to cause heavy rains and early frosts. She could also use the device to fly short distances and jump great distances. (RPG: "The Eyes of the Storm")
  • Sarcophagus: Her sarcophagus hasn't functioned in decades and the power supply to it failed a decade ago. (RPG: "The Eyes of the Storm")
