Mansfield is a Major in the United States Air Force and leader of SG-17. He lead his team to Revanna to take part in a tour of the Tok'ra base. He was killed in a cave-in, when the Goa'uld Zipacna attacked the underground tunnels. (SG1: "Summit", "Last Stand")
